Thread: Sonic Wireless

  1. #1

    Lightbulb Sonic Wireless

With all the issues that have been going on with congested exchanges etc I decided to have the guys from Sonic come out last week to do an inspection. As luck would have it I am 1.2km away from one of the main towers and 4.2kms away from the other. So what does this mean? It means I can get a pretty damn decent connection! Its not goinf to be cheap but hey, I need my internets back!

They are installing today and I will let you all know how it goes when I get home.

    Wish me luck

I'm deciding to jump on the Sonic wireless band wagon myself, just waiting for my site survey & keeping fingers crossed.

    Is this them?

    http://www.sonicwifi.co.za/ or http://www.sonicwireless.co.za/

I only see speeds up to 1 Mbps.

What package are you on and what does it cost?

Edit: must be http://www.sonicwireless.co.za/ I see they go to 10 Mbps.

    Correct, it is the sonicwireless.co.za

They go up to 10mpbs but you can ask them to custom make a package for you.
    I am paying R 2499-00 for a 20mbps connection.

Do you use P2P at all?
How does that do? I haven't tried it properly yet.

You mean torrents? Works 100%, haven't seen any sort of throttling
