Why Afrihost’s mobile service rocks

No sign-up or activation fees – Afrihost charges for a RICA SIM delivery of R149, which can be avoided by collecting your SIM at the Afrihost office.

Or just buy any MTN sim from anywhere....

I like what they have to offer, the big players can learn a thing or two from Afrihosts App

but how do you move it to afrihost?

You sign up with AH and they send you an email with very detailed and accurate instructions how to do it. Can't remember the exact steps off the top of my head but it's really easy, porting my old number to MTN in the first place was much more of a pain.

I have "emergecy calls only" on my phone since this morning :-(

so technically one can just use any old MTN sim, even one that wasnt RICA'd?
I mean when I got my Phone, I went through a lot of faffing around trying to cut my SIM card to fit my new phone,

and somebody suggested a SIM swop, until I discovered theres a machine that can cut my SIM to fit perfectly in my Phone.
I still did buy a SIM kit though, but never activated it, it still says RICA locked,

could I conceivably use this with AH?

It has to be RICA'd. I just did it in the MTN shop I bought the sim from.

Yeah the SIM definitely has to be RICA'd. :) Besides that, any old prepaid MTN SIM will do the trick, but keep in mind that we also supply wicked cool Afrihost branded SIMs when you order online. :)

but I still have to visit AH offices to collect, otherwise its R149 correct?

The fee of R149 is a courier delivery charge which you won't have to pay if you collect the SIM yourself. That will only be charged when you order online. :) ^SP

You have to give credit where credit is due.

Afrihost like any other ISP on the planet are not without faults, but at least they are trying hard to overcome it as far as it is in their power to do so.

I have dealt with several 1st-world ISPs who are much bigger than they are, but don't even match the level that Afrihost is on when it comes to several key areas.

Their client zone and mobile app is by far the most advanced and user-friendliest of all ISPs in SA.

Well done, Afrihost!

Thanks for the kudos! :) We're definitely trying our best to fight the good fight!

Afrifella, can you explain what the process is if your Afrihost sim card is lost or stolen? How easy is it to do a sim swop and still keep your same number?

Hey deweyzeph! :) Exactly the same process would apply as if you were an MTN client. In other words, you will have to do a SIM Swap at an MTN store directly. Have a read here for more detail. :)
