MTN exposing subscribers’ personal details online

WTF is going on at MTN? from one **** storm to the next.

I wonder if MTN are going to bring a court case against whoever found this out...

Maybe MagicDude4Eva can provide some legal tips :p

They also hijack your RICA details (am sure it is illegal), so prepaid users are not safe. The same for Voda, Cell C, Telkom.

Can vouch for this on Cell C.

Ported a tel nr to Cell C. Took out a new sim and nr for another task.

A day later both numbers received the same 419 scam SMS within seconds.

Not a good example, sorry. It is about number recycling. The previous number owner has subscribed to this crap.

MTNs reputation is so poor at this point in time. They failling in all departments, customer service, adhering to regulation, network quality etc etc etc.

Havent seen the local CEO make a single statement to address the issues.

I am so happy I left MTN. They told me I am stupid because I expected the opening balance of statement match the closing balance of the previous months statement! And I had several people told me that the closing balance should not be equal to opening balance - payments + invoices. Every step of the way I was told I was an idiot and their computers were NEVER wrong.

I am surprised that they don't blame the customer for this (yet).

Huh? Excellent example. This one went over your head obviously.

Let me highlight the key points for you:
Two numbers. One number ported in from another provider, new (recycled irrelevant) number on Cell C. Both receiving the same 419 SMS within seconds a day later?

Spot the issue? The only commonality is Cell C

In next turn you will say these two SIMS were used on the same phone, I guess.
