I want to get the 4Mb Home premium uncapped package (only data side) for now. Will upgrade ADSL with Telkom myself.

Does anyone know if I can cancel with Mweb immediately so the switch over can happen from 1st of July or is there a 3 month waiting period? Appologies if this is a silly question but not sure how it works. Have been with Mweb from the start..

Last silly question, if I want to upgrade later to a 8Mb line do I also have to change the data package at Crystal Web?

Hi DWAAS, I'm sorry to see you're deciding to cancel. Is there anything that I can help with that may lead to you changing your mind? Cancellations are scheduled for the first day of the month following the calendar month notice period. So if you request to cancel today for example, your cancellation will schedule to process on 1 August.

As the CEO of Crystal Web I can only answer from our perspective and not Mweb's.

If you upgrade your line you'll want to upgrade your data package as well, because a 4Mbps uncapped account will be limited to 4mbps. If however you are on a capped package, it will sync to your line speed so any upgrades to your line will have no billing impact and will be instant. Upgrades to uncapped packages are also pretty instant.

Talk to us on live chat on our website if you have any specific questions relating to Crystal Web or if you need help with the migration process at all (it's just a change of username and password - it's really easy, and we can assist with that too)...

Thank you DJ. I was on the live chat yesterday and tonight (say an hour ago)- very nice experience.
My first step now is to upgrade my line and let your people know when I have confirmation. Then signup.

It's a pleasure. Or just signup and let us know later. You can schedule sign-ups to activate on a future date...;)

EDIT: I see you are being convinced by people that leaving your line with Telkom ISP is best. Well, all ISPs now operate on a level playing field. No ISP (including Telkom) gets any favour when it comes to that management. That is because Openserve now manage all lines on wholesale...

Can this be done now?

Yes, sure. You can sign up and schedule activation for 1st of next month instead - so no need to activate on the day in question. We will SMS you the details and email you confirmation all ahead of time so you can have peace of mind during the transition. All you'd need to do is switch username and password on the day - no need to rush.

And if you ever need to adjust it for whatever reason, just let us know...

you have any idea how long Telkom normally takes to upgrade ADSL in the exchange?
Are we talking weeks here or days?

Well, it all depends on the equipment being used. It should take no longer than 10 days if it requires an upgrade on the actual exchange infrastructure - no more than 24 hours if not. However if someone is required to be on-site to switch ports then it depends on availability of Openserve technicians in the area...

I would wait a month or so until Telkom releases their new products. Then decide. There is no better deal at the moment with telkom where you can use adsl data on lte... seems they are going that way in the future.

This doesn't sound like an obstacle. Shouldn't matter anyway. The Mweb guy said they'll release me from 1 August if I cancel in this month (tomorrow).
Plenty of time for Telkom to do their thing (will also apply tomorrow).
Thanks. I'm in.

I don't know what you're talking about. Lte?

Biggest mistake I made was leaving CrystalWeb to "he who shall not be named"... that includes my ADSL line! I will be moving back soon. Tired of their nonsense.

Well then, welcome back home. :)

It's a good time to be a Crystal Web customer. Some very cool things coming (and no, we're not a price-gouger but a value-driver so it's tangible things you'll experience)...;)

@DJ I see the signup process allows only for activation now or 1st of next month. I need activation 1 August else I'll be paying 2 ISPs.
So signup should take place on 1 July earliest?

Wow that's an incredibly lengthy notice period. As a company that does same-month cancellations submitted before the 19th of the month, it's a bit of a foreign concept to us and we have not built automations to process this far ahead of time yet.

If you follow the sign-up and ask the guys to delay it until 1 August they will happily oblige and we do have manual processes that will solve this, so go ahead and complete sign up and then simply inform the guys on live chat about the special requirement. They'll take care of the rest for you...
