A bit of a confession from me, I never owned any Ipod,Iphone,Ipod touch or any other IOS device,
and very recently I received a Ipad 2 air for evaluations, and to try out for a app we will be running soon.

I wanted to find out something that been bothering me, Serious question,
I went into this with a open mind, having never owned/worked one before, why would you buy one in the first place?

what do people see in it? Is it a Brand loyalty thing that people see in it?
Like I will only drive a BMW or Mercedes instead of a Toyota or Hyundai

similar to this guy? that says Mercedes is a brand that does nothing better than an equivalent Toyota or Hyundai.

I have to admit, this Ipad 2 is stylish and works quite fast, but so many restrictions on it compared to andriod,
I mean I have a android phone that cost a fraction of what a iphone cost, and I would never trade it for anything ever....
I really struggle to see why does anybody buy this, when the alternative is so much easier/cheaper and better.

what is the real reason people buy it? It it due to them not being really interested in phones and want something that works immediately.
or is it a brand loyalty kind of thing? or is there a real reason that one has to dig to understand?

I mean it costs so much for this device, its restricted so much, and doesn't (to my mind) do anything better than the equivalent android.

Please explain to this IOS newbie why do you pick one over a android?

/in before "AppStore is so amazeballs"

/in before "Ecosystem 8==D~~~~~~~~~~"

I have been a Android user from the start, then decided for my upgrade to go to iPhone.
So far my experience is it is easier to use (especially for the older more technophobes) and less cluttered as android with better security.
For someone that still wants a smart phone but none of that flipboard, newstand and other nonsense in android and for most of the time just a mobile that calls and receives e-mails the iPhone works well

I rate it is brand loyalty and the fact the 3rd party support is really good. But the prices of the devices got to me.

so its really just a "safer" alternative to a android phone, and helps if you a bit scared of technology,

still expensive though, a bit too much for my liking......

From my experience a least iOS is more stable than Android. (Note 4 crashes and reboots every few days randomly, don't think that ever happened once on my ip5)

My first real smart device was an iPad 2 I purchased in the states, my first smart phone was a galaxy S3, within the week of getting the phone, the iPad has remained in the cupboard, I just can't deal with iOS, it drives me insane.

I think people who use iOS are either too afraid to take the leap to Android, or they're too lazy to learn a slightly different system, or they just want to be seen as rich.

I'd be very interested to see what happens if Apple ever released an iPhone with Android on it

Plus people in the office stop bothering you for a charge cable:D

Not entirely true, used Android for years before going to iOS

Yea I am generalizing massively, but that's my observation so far

+1, my iPhone 5S is a lot more stable than my LG G3 which is booting randomly, hissing when using headphones and these are both Flagships so I think quality control is a lot better on the iPhones in general.
I also know ill get updates on my iPhone, G3 will stay on MM.

Price has made me leave.
Mains things I miss from apples side are easy syncing with iTunes, airplay, App store as I have macbook, ipads and apple tv at home.

No man not this thread...

Buy a device that works for *your* needs...

All these type of threads turn into a dick (Johnson) measuring contest...

Cant agree with you on that. I've had my note4 for a year and a bit now. Hasn't rebooted on me once.

I made the move from iOS (Iphone 4) to Andriod ( Note 1) for no other reason but to have a change. In the begining I enjoyed the rooting and flashing nonsense, esp on the Note. But since upgrading to the Note4, I've stuck with stock roms as they have improved allot.

I am considering going back to iOS as I am bored of Andriod now, but everytime I play around with an iPhone, it just "feels" sluggish. Might be just in my head though. Need to spend more time before I make up my mind.

so aside from a few very small improvements with regards to speed,

nothing really significant....

so my initial thoughts are very correct then, android is the better system.

This pretty much.

That G3 is a 2014 flagship though.
