Which small SUV is the best?

I am looking at buying a new car for the family, I've been looking into the Nissan Qashqai or Rav4, I have looked at a few others but have no idea which ones are the best for value for money, safety and features, any recommendations? The Rav 4 wold probably be the upper limits of what I am wiling to pay.
 
Haval H6C 2.0T premium, cheaper than both the entry level Rav4 as well as the Qashqai, more powerful, on par with both concerning features, it makes all the sense in the world. At least go and test drive one and have a reason not to want it than just disregarding it for its Chinese origins.

It's safety rating?
 
I'm assuming that the Toyota RAV4 2.0 GX at R374,000 is the top limit.
The CR-V starts at R422,900, the BMW X3 is way above that and the Mazda CX5 is R382,700.
I'd go Qashqai or Vitara
 
Yes I would rate the 2.0GX the top limit, I've never spent that much on a car and I don't know if it's worth it, I did notice mccarthy toyota is having specials but I would have to confirm with them.
 
The price of the Mazda is not far from that of the RAV4. The 3 years unlimited warranty and Service Plan makes the CX 5 a good buy.

I have watched some youtube on the Haval, my only worry would be reliability and resale value.
 
Buy something second hand and get much more
We bought a KIA Sportage (2014)last year for R200k and I'm definitely happy with the value for money. For R300k you can get something that's top of the range and don't have to settle for less.

It's overpriced for nothing, in terms of features it's way behind similarly priced cars, and it has drum brakes at the rear which screams cheapness.

People can get an Opel Mokka for around a similar price but no they choose that cheap Creta
