How on earth do they get away with coding such useless dumb
software to actually SELL to the masses.

I am going to give the very short story, get this, you cannot simply do a peer to peer connection nor can you simply do a lan connection, and YES i went through countless of pages of research and used many troubleshooting methods myself to NO avail. So many people having endless problems it makes one sick just to read half of it.

When i finally got the dumb homegroup option to work, only to find that it goes into a never ending connection spree once entering the stupid password, Never actually connecting the pc's, you have no idea ho much time i wasted on this stupid piece of useless code they dare to call an operating system

For the love of life is there any alternative software i can use inside winblows 10 to simply connect 2 pcs for gaming ? It's all i ask. it is really simply a connection which microsft did not even pass primary school on how to actually do it so that it actually works.

i'm stuck with doing the adhoc wireless connection which sucks because it lags and whoever invented those dumb thumb wireles usb network adapters needs a slap, it's all they sell at the local pc store i went to 4 !

The early 90's called and were very pleased to announce you are the last person on earth trying to do a peer to peer connection.
Congratulations on that.

Honestly I don't like Windows. But I've found Windows 10 to be very usable and pretty reliable across most use cases. Its holding its own well. Perhaps you have other problems such as network, config or pebkac?

I don't understand what the problem is /Deja Vu @ SAJunky:whistle:

I just connected my two Windows 10 PC's via Ethernet directly too each other. Under Network I can see both PC's. When I select PC 2, it ask's me for the Username / Password and then I can access all the files that are shared. Copy to and from works fine. Did the same with the other PC. Can access PC 1, Enter username and password, can access all the files.

I didn't use Homegroup. Just sellect Network.

Am I missing something again?

Saj Unky.... is that you?

Haven't tried it for gaming.

Can't you just get a cheap router or switch? Makes more sense to me? Doesn't have to be connected to the Interwebs

You can literally hook up both devices via an Ethernet cable to each other, done this before.

For WiFi:
Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile hotspot, create one and get the other person to connect.

Are you sure it doesn't lag because your machine/host is freezing/lagging?

Afaik you need to use a crossover ethernet cable on some older NICs.

Set both NIC's to private and plug in a Ethernet cable and wait for an APIPA address, not very difficult.

Well those who got it right by simply connecting the 2 pc's via ethernet cable congratiolations, you are the chosen ones !

When i do that it displays a continious message "identifying" on both pc's its all it does for eternity.

I got so far as to manually configure the ip adresses on both pc's, (not that it was needed because both network cards did display that it obtained valid ip adresses, and on both pc's windows identifies the network cards respectively 100% and they are working perfectly as i made connections before on earlier operating systems sucessfuly between 2 pc's, both is set to WORKGROUP and am on the same subnet. but on win 10 i only get "identifying" when the cable is plugged into both pc's

ip4 and ip6 is installed.

Those wise ar$es telling me i'm noob etc... etc.. instead of chest thumping, how about actually thinking, and trying to provide a solution ?

The network cards is the built in type into motherboard, the one pc is an asus motherboard from 2011, and the other pc is a asrock mortherboard from 2016.

It was reccomended to me to start 6 services, which i did to no avail, then to put them on manual, still did not work, then to put it on auto, still to no avail.

I then plugged one pc into the wireless router, and the pc's was able to see each other but could not connect to each other.

I did come right with an adhoc connection, can someone tell me if there is a way to boost the power to a thumbdrive wireless usb adapter so i can stick it onto a usb extension cable of 5 meters, so that i can position the wireles adapter in such a way to get a more direct straight line to the other pc, that should work but the small usb wireless adapter does not respond on a usb cable extension, and the WL722 usb adapters that does work on an extended cable is nowhere to be sold in my town.

Maybe you should up-skill yourself a bit more before offering your services then; ;)

Good day

Is there anyone requiring a pc technician to do part time work for them such as installations, repairs, troubleshooting, i would ideally like to do this from home to supplement my income as i have a job that keeps me only busy for half a day each day. i have many years practical experience and did mcse back in the day. However i would like to work with pc's hands on.

O please how old are you 12 ? Not for you to judge what my skills are, i did my MCSE back in the day, and worked in the industry for 6 years, i worked for 3 big IT companies and YES i can give you the references to contact to find out for YOURSELF how well i provided my services, anytime pal just ask me ;) not that i need to prove anything to YOU whoever YOU are, but i will GLADLY give you the contact numbers.

Understand that there are many IT people that cannot solve every single problem, let me tell you it is impossible, even for YOU, so don't come here and try and be a clown..in getting something to work sometimes the solution is something no one thought about, Look at my problem for instance, Not a single working solution from anyone yet as to what EXACTLY my problem is....So almighty IT GRANDMASTER if YOU are so good, What is YOUR solution ??????? But If you are here to troll about rather let someone with a solution reply as i am not interested in your meaningless discussion.

Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you how to fix your problem. You have a problem but it means Microsoft fscked you and the world over and now you have attitude. I have loaded Windows 10 on at loads of. PCs including 9 year old PCs and it just works. Just this week, we plugged a wireless dongle we found at the institution at which one of those 9 year old pcs was donated and I was fricking surprised that the PC with no Internet installed driver, we connected to their wireless and connected to a copier in less than 5 mins. Maybe your hardware is just ****/faulty?
