Hey guys,
I am interested in buying a Polo 2015 TSI (1.2), with 60000KM on the clock for 150k. I will be doing an average of 250KM a day with it.
How much is the maintance costs/services?
Any issues i should be aware of ?

But m also considering buying a brand new vivo or a 2nd hand kia rio 2012-2014 1.4 Tec with 60k on the clock.

This is will be my first car please advice.

Can you please post a link to the ad, I'm a bit concerned with the price, seems to be too low for that car.

I saw the polo at a dealership in gezina m not sure about the name of the dealership

The TSI motor drives nice but they are not as reliable as the older NA engines in the Vivo or Rio.

Get the Kia especially if it's a Tec and has full service history, anyway it should cause they came standard with a service plan.

My wife has had a 2013 Tec from new, zero hassles, the only time it's at the dealer it's for scheduled service intervals or normal wear and tear stuff like wipers, bulbs, etc.

A really good car and more importantly a low risk car, so premiums should be reasonable and you should be safe as well.

Forget the Vivo, you really could do better with your R150k.

Lol the hijacking part kills me anyways how much do you think insurance will be for the cars i mentioned am 23.
Thanks for the Reply

thanks for the quick response, Yes m looking for something that will be super reliable something that will last 5-7 years if possible.

Service wise which one is the cheapest ?

I really like the Kia plus it’s 30k cheaper at most places. But m kinda scared of it cauz a friend had it and the gearbox broke like 2 times

Different insurers bull**** in different ways. Some might say its based on age, some say its how long you've had your license for, some base it on how long you've been insured claim free for. Maybe all three of the above.

Generally Polos are considered high risk. The insurer will probably give you the stat "Polo is the most hijacked car in SA", justifying why he is charging you a premium that is probably more than your vehicle repayments.

Costs are also determined on where you live and work. Living in a township and working in the CBD, be prepared to get a quote of around R3k.

I'd say be happy with something around R1,5k - R2k . And always be trying out other insurance companies to try to lower it time to time.

They do have a very hard, springy clutch. Perhaps driver's really ride the clutch, battling for clutch control - I don't know. But the notchy clutched generally do get more wear.

Try finding a car with a very linear clutch movement.

Sometimes its all about how you drive your car.

But i will go test drive it and see if i will be ohk with owning it over a long period of time.

Will check it out it also looks cool.
Do you perhaps know how much a normal service is for the Rio ?

I would say R2 to R3k easy. Especially considering your age, type of car, areas you go to. And the fact that you drive 250km a day could increase your premiums too.

Like mentioned above, the Polo tsi is not as reliable, I see them on truck beds all the time.

Get the Kia.
