iBurst nails existing subscribers

So typical of our 'broadband' providers ....

Any migration which involves a price reduction is subject to a levy of R 199.00 for this privilege.

This ‘migration charge’ is only applicable to customers moving a lower priced package – hence only subscribers who will save money on their monthly subscription.
... does one laugh or cry at this.

Wow... Now that's what I call extortion.

That's so nasty not even Telkom have tried to pull that trick.

Agreed.

On the contrary - it reminds me of how Telkodemonopolies charges an ADSL rental downgrade fee e.g. switching from "Fastest" to 'slowest' or from "Fastest" to "Faster" or from "Faster" to 'slowest', all of which involve paying ZAR250.00 to the monopolistic slug we know and hate.

I hadn't considered that. I believe that it's safe to assume, in that case, that iBurst has taken a page straight out of Telkom's 'Monopolies for Dummies?'

It's ridiculous that when service in the Electronic Communications sector should be improving, it finds new ways of alienating and making a mockery of their clients - especially the ones who have, in the case of iBurst, stuck with them even through their R49 "true broadband" joke.

Yep, I think you've summed it up nicely :).

Sadly, this is a symptom of a lack of competition - there is competition, but companies like iBurst SA deserve to go bankrupt due to customers switching to numerous competitors.

Until we get more competition, Telkodemonopolies and iBurst SA will continue to prey upon the unenlightened consumers out there, hopefully some will realise they're being royally screwed and drop iBurst SA as soon as they possibly can.

One last comment - it's really sad that iBurst SA has turned out to be such a devil disguised in a sheep skin - the company displayed so much potential back in 2004.

Yeah... I still remember people speaking highly of iBurst, not unlike how people speak of Neotel these days. I only hope Neotel lives up to what people, or at the very least I, hope of it.

iBurst and Telkom are both of equal embarrassment to our country.

You left out one other embarrassment. Anyways, how a company thinks they can do something like this is beyond me. I hope consumers open their eyes and pull a big .|.. at them.

At least when the celullar providers cut their prices, it involves existing and new customers.

that's why I left these buggers yonks ago, They will never receive a good word from me. We need to make more folks aware of the rip off that they truely are.

iBurst has taken the decision to not move existing subscribers over to their new, more affordable offerings.

of course not, they will make more money this way, i guess lot's of people will be leaving then? i would if i had it

im not with iburst but this is no fair to people who are , they must have been waiting for the price cut and now they find out they must pay more , neotel is almost here

I'm with Interprise (interprise.co.za) they agreed to downgrade me free of charge. I don't have a contract and told them that I could cancel my subscription and get the new package with a joining fee of R99 instead of paying R171 (probably ex vat) to downgrade.

Now that is great service!!!!
Please pvt me to get my username as reference when you sign with them :)

Why would one leave such personal details here?
Ras?

Anyway - on topic - I think Alan Knott-Craig Jr and his cohorts are smoking some serious tjoeff!!!

Really dissapointing and disheartening to see that they could take their long standing customers for such a ride.

Ran out of funny comments to dis iburst a while ago...

Hopefully this will be the last straw for many people :D

Well that's it, been waiting and wondering why I was not paying the reduced price, untill now. Thanks rpm for the info.

Just got one thing to say to iSuck................

I will be not renewing my contract in the couple of months time and I will make sure no one joins your useless, money grabing company.

Go fly a kite.

Used to be with iBurst, now on ADSL.

To be quite honest, it does not surprise me in the least that they would pull this sort of thing. They are a very shoddy example of a poorband provider.
