Okay heres the Scenario, i have 3 telkom accounts and 1 openweb account. i just want them in the router so that i can connect at anytime. i dont want to dial a PPOE thru windows. Mega 100wr allowed me to set up multiple accounts, i only connect 1 at a time.

well, netgear & (especially) dlink routers are total crap: you can't setup more than one PPPoE at once using the same VPI/VCI settings - even if you don't activate/enable them at once.

That is why who.is.michael told you to setup the router in bridge mode and then setup the 4 PPPoE connections on your PC, and then dial which-ever one you want to use from your PC.

okay ive tried that but the problem is that my laptop and xbox cant seem to use the connection. Does this mean il have to set them up separately-

jeppe777, as soon as the router is in bridged mode DHCP doesn't work anymore, so you have to manually setup your connections with IP addresses. You can skip that part with the laptop and just bear the little yellow exclamation mark and PPPoE connect the **** out of it, but with the Xbox it might work slightly different.

Why you have 5 connections in the first place I won't know. If it's a combination of IS/SAIX bandwidth why not get one Web Africa account. That way you pay for one account but can switch to different providers all together. It really isn't much of a hassle to change accounts on the router if you have auto complete turned on in your browser.

Select-Click username Press Backspace, click once and you'll be greeted with several choices. Better yet (I'm sure you're using IE that's why) you can use FireFox/Chrome/Opera/ANY OTHER BROWSER EXCEPT IE. To actually remember their passwords, that way when you select an account you immediately get a filled in password and all you have to do is click save.

That being said, my Netgear has Basic Settings (where you type in the username/password) and ADSL Settings (where you set the VCI and VPI settings) so I'm not too sure why you're struggling at all because these are always kept seperate AFAIK. Then again, Telkom provided you with the modem and I really do not trust Telkom's opinion on a good router.

I agree on the DLink bit but seriously boy. My DG834G has been through some tough times, where others had to restart their routers constantly, plug it in, plug it out. Mine chugged away. Through lighting hits, ports malfunctioning because of it, it just chugged away until sadly it died as the cat threw it off my table and it went down in a glorious blaze of electrical fire.

With the **** you get today you can't even get a full years worth out of any other router unless you constantly tell it its pretty and that you'll restart it every day just so it behaves like a good little girl.

jeppe777, you can always configure your router in half-bridge mode (if it supports it I dunno). This way you can have you XBOX use the one PPPoE connection configured on the router, and then you can dial the PPPoE connections that you want to use from your PC if you don't want to use the same account as the XBOX is using.

Half-bridge mode is simply when the router has both the Bridged mode interface and a PPPoE interface enabled on the WAN.

My router, the Netgear DG834GT does not support PPPoE relay (half bridge), the older netgears with some firmwares supported it, but there may be another fix for you, I also use multiple accounts from different PC's using the DG834GT.

This is what I've gotten from users on myBB a while back.

Try this, this is the way i can get my DG834GT into half bridge, although you have to have one account dialed up on the router for it to work.

http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=pi...addif+br0+nas0 give it a try, or,

alternatively, there is a hidden menu for full bridge mode (modem mode) for my router, might be the same for yours, try http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?next_file=mode.htm

PM me if you have questions, I probably won't have time to check up on this thread.

The first URL does not seem correct, I don't think that those dots should be there :)

My DG834G v3 unfortunately smoked, and supported half-bridge perfectly. Problem is Netgear is only shipping v5 now and I'm not sure if it works :( If it doesn't then I may have to get the GT and try your suggestion.

Unless anybody is aware of other routers that do support half-bridge? I'm getting desperate because I need this functionality - same story, need my XBOX to access the internet on a dedicated connection and my computer so that media sharing still works, and have my computer dial into separate accounts.

I still don't get WHY you want MULTIPLE VCI and VPI? All you want is to setup multiple usernames and passwords. VCI AND VPI are ADSL line settings... you can't just change them
Yeah i know but let me explain. I just want multiple accounts using the same 8 35 configuration. However when trying i get "Duplicate VPI" Tried to do half bridge no luck.
