Lightroom - Need help from the experts

Hi All,

I am hoping there is someone on here that can help me with this please.
I use Lightroom to manage my images but I haven't been doing so very effectively so I want to get my house in order. When I import my photos from my SD card I am able to ORGANISE by date but the date format that I am able to choose is not something that I would like. I would like to have my own description here. I was hoping to do this:
Year/Number+Month/Day+Location

So that the folders created would be (as an example):
2024
05. May
22. Marievale

Is that possible?

Why nest them like that, I just have one folder per year and then one folder per shoot which is named with the full date + description so 2025 main folder then for example "2025 01 18 Tyson House" folder for a shoot of a house. If you shoot a ridiculously large amount then put them into nested month folders but anything past that is adding complication for no reason. LR also has naming templates that you can setup so you can auto add the import date and anything else you want added to the file name on import.

Wouldn't a simple renaming of the file name be enough? I preface all of my imports with the date YYYYMMDD.

The imports are filed in a folder containing the date and the headline from a IPTC template.

The majority of my imports are tagged with various metadata such as a title, description, keywords and location. I use photo mechanic but these sort of things are, afaik, also found in LR.

That's exactly what I do, then there is no chance of ever forgetting what shoot it was from even if the files get all muddled up. You can make an import template in LR to auto add the date to whatever title you give and then just make that the default import template.
