The above address allows you to enter the number of a sms to find out the cost of the sms as well as details about the media company 'behind' the sms (an example of a premium-rated sms: "SMS xxxx to 33588").

An example:

Step 2
A search result has been found.
The contact information for the owner of the number you searched for is listed below. You should contact the company directly and ask them to resolve the complaint for you.

VAS Rate: R1.50
Telephone: 011 234 4080
Other contact methods:
Visit the website.

Remember that the service provider most likely sent the SMS on behalf of a separate company, and so they will need to forward your complaint to that company.

If the issue is not resolved, you can complain to WASPA by completing this form.

What is the cheapest "premium sms" provider for competitions ?

There are plenty providers,all in the similar price ranges,end its your decision.

Their are several tons out there.
Cheaper to start your own ---- I do not trust 3rd parties, having my clients details and numbers. How can you trust a company having such information and db of about 10000 registered users or more....
 
but just also remember that some companies can/do use for example a R5.00 number to bill you R10.00. like by sending a followup "thank-you" message or some such. (i used to work at one, so i know these things :)) so even though its a R5 service, they could be charging you more, but you will see each instance itemised on your account.

Just checked out their site and they are shaming "Please Call Me" sponsored messages... This is not spam but a revenue generating mechanism that allows people to continue using PCM's...

Its a good idea but will loose its face value if the sysadmin and the public do not use it. They should use the Hellopeter model.

and if Vodacom4U is the spammer???

Hey all,

been receiving unsolicited MMS messages form Vodacom4U for about 2 weeks now.. they come as "free news 4 you" every morning, and despite the phones settings attempting to block advertising, they come in like clockwork!

problem is, unsolicited MMS draws data and incurs charges on my contract.
I presume that this removes data and or airtime on paygo sims also?

I have complained twice to VSP on 111, and have logged a formal request for credit, but the messages just keep coming!

anyone here know of a better solution than wasting my time on a waspsa complaint form filing?
