Neotel confirms new launch date

"Neotel further said that their pilot programme for the consumer offering is well underway and that they are satisfied with the results"

Then why have MYAdsl not been able to test it?

I smell something! and it's Bull$h!t!

WhatEVER. I am so sick and tired of hearing about these guys. I vote we impose a news ban until they actually announce that more than 50 trial users can get their services.

In the years that they have taken to launch I have got ADSL from Telkom and I am happy. HSDPA from Vodacom keeps me happy when I am on the road. I don't need them anymore especially with the noises that Vodacom are making in the consumer space...

Well, by the sounds of it, Vodacom could be providing consumer ADSL offerings far sooner than NeoTel

Our target is to start generating revenue from our consumer offering by the end of the first quarter (March 2008), subject to tariff approval by ICASA. Later, Neotel will then launch its marketing and PR campaign to support the consumer offering,” Zulu concluded.

Screw you Zulu and Neotel. How about actually starting to offer SERVICES to clients, and not starting to generate revenue from clients? Watch this space, Neotel is Telkom MkII.

We have taken a gradual and phased approach to rolling out our consumer services

Translated: We don't have a cooking clue when we will be launching so just like Eskom that are taking a phased approach to rolling out power stations (5-7 years) and the government that are taking a gradual approach to dealing with crime (have done nothing), we just thumb suck a new roll out period every 100 days - nogal no actual date - rather 100 days?????? South Africans don't know how to use a calender so we rather give the time period in DAYS.... JaNee....

Wow, just look at all the Negativity...
Lag 'n slag mense! :D

Can't wait for Neotel to launch

These guys are starting to bug me as well. SA is starved for some real competition, but these monkeys decide to string us along with empty promises and vaporware.

We want to see ACTUAL prices for their broadband services and ACTUAL launch dates!!! :(

I have it on rather good authority the actual launch will be beginning of April not May. Don't know why people keep thinking early new year must mean January.

Nobody thinks it will be January.

Last year Neotel said that consumers can expect a commercial residential offering in the first quarter of this year.

First Quarter = January to March, thus end March 2008 launch at the latest. Now it is another 100 days...

I would love to make use of neotel one day but it seems that one day is still very far away...

well i finally bit the bullet and went adsl. got tired of waiting. and after the 2 month wait to get that installed i am hesitant to switch as i dont think i could do with not having internet access for another 2 months or however long it takes neotel to get their heads out of each others bums.

another thing. has anyone thought that maybe the reason for the daly in getting their services launched is due to the fact that they are so busy patting themselves on the back for their latest announcement that their is nobody with a free hand to do any work.

Neotel confirms new launch date
100 days ???
From when --today ? or end of March + 100 days ?

Within 100 days form the time statement was made I presume.

Its shocking how unprofessional this whole saga is ..... are there any real business people in companies these days, or are they all there on "quota" system.

The way this story is unfolding it would appear that Neotel
1) has no plan what so ever
2) has plan but has no idea how to implement it
3) have plan and action but whilst attempting to implement the plan that they understand, are miserably failing with delivery of services. which has to point that something with a plan and action is wrong.

who knows who cares..... there are no alternatives any how.... so why bother cancel all services and seek greener pastures

They can't be anymore unprofessional!! Didn't we have British Telecom and all of them wanting to start up here?? Why the hell did we have to go with someone from Tata communications, what does everyone expect? But I'm sure that's exactly what Telkom, and Guavamint were expecting.

Yes we did. And then the government told them how to set up their company, which partners they needed to take on board, how much they had to contribute to various non-telecoms structures, so they said FU and left. As did all the other major players.

i'd rather they delay the launch and iron out all the kinks with the service and billing.

Why do they keep on pushing the date back? Is there some kind of underhanded and sneaky deal going on behind the scenes?

Or is it just because some damagement type misjudged the dates incorrectly?

*sigh*
