I am a noob, so be gentle :)

I have 2 pc's. The one is connected to a Mega105WR router and the other is connected to the router via a wireless network card. I would like to know if it's possible to have the wireless comp connect to an Axxess prepaid voucher account (international) only, while the other comp connects to the main Telkom account? If so, where can I find info on how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Yes it is possible. Search for Routesentry on this board, but it is kinda technical.

You don't need Routesentry. You just need to put the router into bridge mode and make PPPoE connections.

1) Point your browser to http://10.0.0.2 and login (default is admin/admin)
2) Go to "Advanced"
3) Hover your mouse over "WAN" and select "quickstart" (unless you've changed the name to something else)
4) Change the router into "Bridged" mode.
5) Remember to "Save settings" or it'll revert back to the previous setting when you reboot your router.
6) Go to the PC you want to use
7) Open "My Computer" and right click on "My Network Places" (I assume you're using Windows XP?) and select "Properties"
8) Choose "Create new connection"
9) Choose "Connect to the Internet" and "Manual"
10) Choose the PPPoE option
11) Enter your DSL details
12) "Finish"
13) "Dial"
14) Repeat from step 6 on the other computer (using the second DSL account)

Hope this helps

The Routesentry that Garyvdh spoke about is for using multiple simultaneous PPPoE connections on the same computer (using RASPPPOE: Windows XP doesn't support it by default) and splitting local and international traffic among them. It helps to save you a lot of money by using a (usually cheaper) local account to route all your local traffic, leaving the international access for international use only

sorry I always get confussed between routesentry and RASPPPoE :o

I still have not got it figured out on my puter either :(

Running XP or Vista? I haven't tried the Vista route, but I think I can help you with XP if you'd like? Took me a while, but once I stopped trying to be stubborn, I RTFM'd it, lol

1) Install RASPPPOE
2) Configure your NIC connected to your router to increase the number of WAN end points
3) Create your "dialup accounts" using RASPPPOE.exe (IMPORTANT!!! Windows' creation doesn't work: needs to use that weird hardware name)
4) Install Routesentry
5) GO!

Thank you "sn3rd". I installed RASPPPOE on both pc's and then followed your suggestion and it worked. :D Much obliged to you and "Garyvdh" for your help.

No problem. carudden is right though: you don't actually need RASPPPOE to make a single PPPoE connection from your PC. RASPPPOE is only required if you want to make multiple simultaneous connections from EACH PC. Will make life easier for you, though, if you decide later on to use multiple accounts to split your local and international usage.

You know, if you just make broadband connection on the one PC, type in the Axxess details. You won't have to change configuration to the router..

You don't need RASPPPOE for normal single PPPoE connections to work, but seen as your have it, leave it.

Ok, wasn't sure about it, because I tried without installing it but I kept getting a message on the wireless pc that the network device was missing. After installing Raspppoe I managed to get it to work. I was perhaps doing something wrong, but it is working now, so I'm happy :)

Ya, it's probably better to use RASPPPOE instead of the default PPPoE protocol. Glad it works! Enjoy!

Ok, I just realised my error, you said the following:

10) Choose the PPPoE option

and I chose the dial-up option instead... :o

Ah ok... Ya, the RASPPPOE.exe program makes a dial-up connection, not a plain-old PPPoE. But it uses the modem's interface as the "number"

thanks folks especially sn3rd and Linoman. simply creating a pppoe connection with the axxess details on my other pc worked perfectly. thanks for the insight. much appreciated.

OK, so my Billion Router only offers me...

PPPoA VC-Mux
PPPoA LLC
PPPoE VC-Mux
PPPoE LLC
1483 Routed IP VC-Mux
1483 Routed IP LLC
1483 Bridged IP VC-Mux
1483 Bridged IP LLC
Pure Bridged VC-Mux
Pure Bridged LLC

Which do I choose?

I assume the last one... but it does not work.

OK, never mind... now it is working... just had to sort itself out first. Wonder why it takes a few mins to enable the connection?

now... how do I set up the PPPoE connection in Ubuntu and Kubuntu?

RASPPPOE is a protocol, routesentry is a program, routesentry makes use of the RASPPPOE protocol in order to operate, my 2 c worth, hope im right!

Wow, I am really confused now. I don't have two pc's, BUT I have 2 accounts and one router and both accounts give me 5 gig INT and 25 gig local, but as per normal, the 5 gig INT gets used first before the 25 gig local kicks in.

Sooo, this is what I want to do. I want to setup the pc so that it uses the 5 gig INT of the first account and as soon as I see that it is history, I want to switch to the second account and use that 5 gig INT and then after all that I will use the remaining 25 gigs local of any account.

Having 2 accounts with identical gigs won't make sense to you, but I have my reasons. Just help to set it up.

Yes, you can do it. Just do as was said in that list up above there. Put the router into bridge mode, and then you are going to create TWO PPPoE connections to dial up with. One for each of your accounts (don't worry about the RASPPPoE), just follow the list above.

that way you can dial in onto any account which has INT left... but when you wanna go local you just disconnect the INT one and switch over to the account that has local. Easy. You will only be using one account at a time.
