Big boost for Windows Mobile

Ja, it needs it... cos even Windows Mobile 6 was pretty sparse on the features. Having finally bought a Windows Mobile Phone and having used it now, I must say I am not all that impressed. I will probably go back to Symbian and Nokia Smart Phones or maaaaybe an Apple IPhone (if I can bug someone to let me test drive one).

The biggest pain about Windows Mobile... is actually having to use the stylus... you can't really get by without it... and therefore anything you do on the phone becomes a two handed effort.

With my Nokia Smart Phone I could do everything with one hand.

I updated my TyTN II from wm 6.0 to 6.1 Professional a couple of months ago when HTC released their official version.
I found the Bluetooth connectivity much improved and I really like the threaded SMS feature that HTC has added.
Otherwise I must say that having started with WM 2003 a few years back, WM 6.1 is great to work with.
I also own a LG Viewty and I prefer the TyTN II by a mile.
The great thing about the HTC and Windows devices is all the options if you want to play with various "cooked" ROMS on the XDA-Developers site.
That cannot be said for the Symbian systems - what you see is what you get.
Can't wait for the HTC Touch Diamond Pro. That really should cook with WM 6.1 Professional.
;)

What Basilrsa said. I have gone through a pile of windows based phones as well as Nokia, and will stick to WM forever.

And you can use it with one hand. I hardly ever use my stylus for anything on my phone.

wm6.1 handsfree

I have the Tytn II and upgraded it to the official HTC wm6.1. Major mistake, handsfree bluetooth to car worked, only on the first call. Even after releasing, phone does not receive calls, and have to do soft reset to get functionality.

Tried a large amount of cooked wm6.1 roms, and all had same problem, even changing radio.

Eventually went back to wm6.0, and everything works again.

So much for improved bluetooth, guess they forgot to floss the plaque.

I did like the sms "chat" layour, and improved browser though.

Im Sticking to windows Mobile Also better support.
symbian vs wm
nokia 7650 vs Motorola mpx200 both released about the same time nokia 7650 os never updated
mpx200 wm6.1 rom available.

alot of people have nokia s60 phones but they dont even know they have a smartphone but in the case of a windows mobile device fewer people have them and they very noticable.

Where did you update from I have not been able to find it on the htc site or the leaf site?

That's especially beneficial while browsing pron.:D

I have trouble finding developer software for my S710 (wm6.0) that works. Will 6.1 help?

Warez dude Warez do you knw what it is Piracy i Knw it sucks having to pay for stuff that should come preinstalled but the more you use warez the lesser the developers wont gain anything and thefore they end up n0t updating the appliction or not developing anymore apps anyway yah

Besides, all of the links are to rapidshare... which is useless to us.

Why Doesn't Rapidshare work You ?

Rapidshare doesn't work for 90% of South Africans because of Telkom's transparent proxy. The rapidshare servers think that the transparent proxy is one user and disallows "multiple" downloads. The only way to bypass this is to buy a rapidshare account or to use a proxy. Since most of us get our files from elsewhere, a rapidshare account is a waste of money. Every now and then you get lucky and are able to download on the free portion, but 99% of the time the downloads are blocked.

couldn't be bothered. If it's that much effort... can't be worth it.

Thanks anyway.
