UUnet is closing down.... no really..

This is coming from a well trusted source...

Due to all the piracy and that..

So don't bother using it anymore.. Or they will catch you!!! (IP Address)

k

Could be true. Remember UUNET was raided a couple of years ago.
As far as I know UUNET/Verizon are going to be sold to MTNNS.

Just not sure, many ISP are selling these days.

UUNet was sold to Verizon back in 2006. I'm not sure why having them as your ISP would constitute an illegal activity though.

isnt he talking about the FTP?

I watched the debate rage over the course of this week. Was an interesting one...

Thats unfortunate....can't say I blame them though....it was getting a bit hectic.

Lets see, lots of folks using bandwidth that UUNET has to pay for, getting stuff that is more on the dodgy side than not, versus, the good will towards UUNET for allowing this service to the South African community. Now in financial terms, I wonder which has the better value in the long term.

..... a futile attempt to scare away n00bs from the FTP's precious bandwidth ?
