I also heard it. Something about the ISP not wanting to be held responsible for the content etc etc. And they just gonna stop the service. Its pretty childish actually...

I don't think so...sounds pretty real(/logical) to me...... a futile attempt to scare away n00bs from the FTP's precious bandwidth ?![]()
Don't stop leeching, double your efforts, leech 24/7, get as much use out of it while it's up! If we steal their bandwidth, we win!
If "they" wanted to bust us, "they" could get IPs from the news servers, or from bittorrent trackers just as easily. Besides, ISPs don't create nasty letters and prosecute users, they just forward emails from the content owners, who certainly arent monitoring uunet ftp. The way ISPs discipline their users is to just cancel their account, no need to get legal, when you signed up you agreed they could cut you off if you leeched illegal stuff.
I watched the debate rage over the course of this week. Was an interesting one...
