Telkom Pinnacle promises top service

my mother got one of these mails - saying she has been put onto the Pinnacle member list.
Dont think anybody should expect anything more than what Telkom is currently offering average users. If they are still lagging behind interms of service delivery to normal customers how are they going to be able to prioritise these "Pinnacle" customers.
Marketing ploy imo

This is just a bandaid for a much larger problem...

But it will remain to be seen whether their "improved" service comes anywhere close to where their service levels actually SHOULD be for premium clients...

* fz1 polishes Telkom Pinnacle badge he received this morning.

Would be interesting to know what percentage of customers qualified for this. With Telkom's prices, it's not hard to spend more than R1k/month. So, it's of little use if (for example) 70% of customers are now "Pinnacle" customers...

lets see

I called earlier to find out what it would take to move my line to my new house 500m down the road from present home.

Telkom tell me:
- wait at least 30 working days
- free line installation, but...
- charge for adsl installation (yes, for the same piece of copper used for the free voice line installation)
- no guarantee of keeping your number, she had no idea about number portability.

Riiight - tomorow i'll try via my all new elite Pinnacle status and see what gives. :D

This really is a pretty blatant attempt to keep their high ARPU customers and get rid of the rest. Don't fall for it.

"I'm sorry. We can't offer you our revised low tariffs, since you'd lose your Pinnacle status." Get real. :D

“Pinnacle has been designed for customers who have been with Telkom for at least one year and consistently spend over R 1000 per month with us,” official Telkom correspondence says.

Sounds stupid to me. It's like the barman who serves regulars first and newcomers last. Newcomers never get to become regulars because they move to another bar where their money is as good as the next persons.

The people who spend R1000 per month with TELKOM will be thrilled I am sure.

What % of their business is that?

telkom Circus in Town?

What crap marketing this time? Cannot even deliver current most basic services?
With more than 70-80% of current households, SOHO, SME and even larger customers all of a sudden becoming "Elite" or Pinacle customers with spending over R 1000.00 per month with Telkom? All fair and good, but what about the poor service delivery as we have become accustomed to? Time for Telkom to sell, move on and exec's and semi-Government employees to retire. Maybe Telkom should become fully state owned again as to ensure services to to poorest of the poor or just basic connectivity. A lot of words I know, but we are fed-upwith this Telkom/Vodacom circus.

From all the bitching I take it none of you got a letter? Wander then why you also still moaning that you spend so much at Telkom? I have tried this Pinnacle thing and when you dial the normal number 375375 you enter your number and I take it they route you to a Pinnacle group. My call was answered in no time and I got good response times to fix my problem. I am impressed!

I did actually get a letter. Funny enough, the voice portion of my ADSL line died just yesterday, so I'm going to get the chance to try this out.

If their prices are good they will make more money by signing 1000000 "small" customers than 10000 pinacle customers. Typical large company attitude. The rest of the world works on more customers and cheaper prices but here it is less customers higher prices. To hell with the small customer. Banks are exactly the same, they treat the guy with lots of money like a king and the average customer like crap.

Its time the hole business model of companies change. Just think how many customers Multichoice can sign if their prices and content were better, but no, keep on supplying the customer with crap and charge high prices.

Big companies should wake up and smell the roses.

im actually trying to get further and further away from qualifying for pinnacle, until such time that Telkom gets exactly ZAR-NIL from me :D
