I recently noticed that my ISP, CyberSmart, is no longer forcing their customers to go through their proxy!

I have been doing an IP test regularly here and my results during the day are:

Your IP address is 41.177.14.113
Your reverse DNS resolves to 113.14.177.41-get-oneprice-adsl-for-only-R169.cybersmart.co.za
Your forward DNS resolves to 69.61.60.170. This is not the same as your IP address!
We were not able to detect use of a proxy server.

and during the night:

Your IP address is 41.177.14.113
Your reverse DNS resolves to 113.14.177.41-get-oneprice-adsl-for-only-R169.cybersmart.co.za
Your forward DNS resolves to 41.177.14.113
We were not able to detect use of a proxy server.

I have e-mailed their support department and here is their response:

Correct.

We did.

Thank you - we hope to keep it like this. We need to proxy for capped accounts and
local bandwidth switching.

I am now able to browse sites that have blocked their proxy's IP, download at RapidShare without fighting for an open slot and I am experiencing higher speeds, approx. 42 KB/s for my RapidShare downloads on a 384 kb line, 4 KB/s faster than when my traffic goes through their proxy server. My RapidShare downloads are also not failing anymore :D

Can anyone confirm this and name any other ISP's in S.A. that are not proxying their international traffic?

Yes im also experincing the same rapidshare speeds and also getting a slot there much easier.

YES I know. Cybersmart and their sister site SAOL no longer force transparent proxies on their clients! Much better.
