MTN network crashes

MTN blows chunks...

I have not renewed my contract with them because in Durban I have to try dialling the same number several times before I can get the network to accept the request.

The news article is based on the SA{N}BC's 'comprehensive and unbiased reporting skills', perhaps it would be better to wait for the rest of the media to put out some news articles before believing everything that the SA{N}BC has to say.

weird... I didn't notice any downtime on either of my phones

My data connection was non existant, and sms's erratic at best, but I could still make an receive calls.

I wasn't affected. My HSDPA connection has remained up since Thursday last week so I reckon only some parts were affected. To state that "MTN Crashed" is a little preemptive and irresponsible don't you think, since this entire article is based around what 1 customer care rep said

I guess they were too busy cashing in their BEE share packages.

I did not notice any problems and I used my phone to make and recieve calls yesterday afternoon and last night. (JHB)

Yeah, the problems were definitely not as severe as that article suggests. Some reporter too lazy to get off his backside and do a bit of research.

Agree.

I'm on support this wonderful Christmas and our company is a WASP (where a SMS gateway):

1) Our servers did not loose any connectivity to MTN yesterday and we neither experienced any issues with (their) hosting facility ... slow news day I guess.

2) I also did not recieve any complaints from our customers or any notifications from MTN that there where any issues - somebody farts sideways @ MTN and they let us know.

3) Most important, my Dad is on MTN and he would have driven to the nearest public telephone to let me know MTN was down, just to bitch ....

must have been a hiccup cos didnt notice it, and my connection been working well...?? hehe maybe da journo crashed....?

Ive got one of those silly top contracts where they give u R70 each month with mtn but my main contract is with vodacom so didnt even notice LOL:p:p:p:p ha ha ha
