Neotel partners with cellular providers

So many frequencies so close :p

As long as they can still be independent of each other and not share the backhaul.
The load has to be independent of one another.

There's more to this and I'd like to know.

It makes complete sense, there is physically and aesthetically only so many towers that an area can handle. Share the costs of the rental, and upkeep, etc, etc. Win Win

excuse my ignorance, but by sharing towers etc, isn't Neotel becoming another mobile operator?
What is the difference between the services of the current mobile operators and Neotel?
How can Neotel be so less expensive than the mobile operators?

Competition

Wondering if this bodes well for competition ? Hopefully it doesn't result in
oligopoly, a market form in which a market or industry is dominated by a small number of sellers (oligopolists). The decisions of one firm influence, and are influenced by, the decisions of other firms. Strategic planning by oligopolists always involves taking into account the likely responses of the other market participants. This causes oligopolistic markets and industries to be at the highest risk for collusion. - wikipedia.

With all these deals happenning and annoucements being made ... when is it all actually going to filter down to us ? ... At an affordable price ??? Without ti-in !!!

It's great that Neotel are doing this, (and quietly annoucing the 5Gb Neoflex oofering) but get rid of the freeking 24-month contract bull - Those tie-in tactics were invented by the cell companies and are now shafting those very cell companies in the a$$.

Does Neotel really want to get kicked in the mule in the same way?

I think they mean "renting" not "sharing". This isn't a hippi festival, it's business.

This is good since I am 200m away from a Vodacom tower and about 500m from a MTN tower. I will have excellent speads because I would be really close to the tower if I sign up.

This is a bad idea imo. This means the same is going to happen as what is happening with the interconnection fees. They will sit together and plan what they are going to charge consumers.

better coverage...whould be quiet awesome if neotel coverage becomes as widespread as our cellular providers....will give telkom something to stress about :)

I think this is good (and expected). The faster Neotel can increase their coverage the better, and because this will be a lot cheaper than putting up their own towers, I'm sure that they will pass the savinggs on to their clients (right?)

Sure towers are expensive and hard to get, but how can you deal with your opposition in one area without it affecting the areas where you must compete.

This shows that there is still room for small scale independent network owners who are not connected to the big 3. There are independent network owners is the UK.

Also shows how valuable WiFi high sites are. The high site may be the most valuable asset of a small WiSp.
