MTN Google Phone versus Vodacom iPhone

id rather see these phones on a cheaper package if you ask me, it makes it sooo out out of reach for us avarage joes. why oh why must they rip off the South African people in every way imaginative. Maybe if the adopt the "sell more phones = sell more data / calls" philosophy they might make more money? whatyathink?

This is like punting Linux against Microsoft. Not (currently) a good idea. Everyone knows beforehand who is going to be the winner. ;)

This phone is the older HTC android phone which has been available in the states and europe for sometime now. Can anyone comment on whether there are any plans to release the HTC magic in SA?

Dont quote me, but I heard Vodacom releasing the HTC Magic very very very soon. Rather hold out for this as it is brand new and much nicer looking. It is available via Vodafone only currently so suspect it will be another Vodacom exclusive. :D

Jip in 2030

Even if you get one from MTN...no use if their network is not up and running. Seems they having lots of issues for a week now. I dont know about you guys, but I am phsyced about the HTC Magic. Cant wait to see and use one for real. Been hearing so much about Android...now might just get to use one very very soon!!!

Why don't the cellular operators wake up and offer contracts where you can pay off the phone separately to your airtime monthly charge.

eg: i want a phone, so i pay R50 pm for R50 Topup package, then R300 a month for the phone. Why must I pay R500+ per month for 350 minutes i don't want just to get the stinking expensive phone?

MTNAnytime?

I honestly cannot see that there's a race here but if MTN insists there is one then the iPhone must be so far ahead that it's not visible. I just cannot agree with MTN's strategy here.

I wonder if Vodacom will be bringing in the HTC Magic?

Boring article, comparing a Tato Nano and a Ferrari, we all know the outcome, even if we're using same fuel specifications. Shouldn't there be more interesting articles?

Re Magic - I would miss my keyboard too much. The dream is really a cool phone and the dev environment is pretty awesome too. Using two thumbs for text and email is alot easier lol.

AND
The Iphone SUCKS for lack of apps. I love Imeem on the G1 - listen to internet radio over wifi while gymming - easy to get hooked.
