My internet is slow as hell, has been for the last few days, so it's back to this again.

I called Neotel and did all the necessary and now have a trouble shooting ticket.

Guys, I had a chat with the guy today (At Neotel) who says he knows all about MyBB but the one thing you guys need to know is;

If you have a problem, make sure you log a trouble ticket and get your reference number because once you have that, Neotel starts to take you seriously.

Don't phone in, scream and shout at the operator, they can really not do much, they are there to provide the most basic of help before sending off the trouble ticket to the Engineers etc.

48 hours turn around time.

So... everyone who has issues, call Neotel, give them the PN number, the RSSI, pass on the latest PING information and SPEED TESTS (from Neotel's portal) get your reference number and lets see what happens.

gdiza, that's just sheer BS! I've had a ticket outstanding since the first week in February, and no-one has taken it seriously. I've tried yelling and i've tried being patient and I've tried doing nothing - they've all had the same effect - nothing!

What I'm doing now is to tell all my mates in IT how long I haven't had service from Neotel, and that they shouldn't use the service (what service?). I've been in IT and networking for almost 30 years now, so I know a number of fairly high-up people. It's worth the Neotel fee for the chaos I'm causing for them.

I've also been telling people not to use Neotel.

Hell, I went into Autopage in Canal Walk and told a couple who were chatting to the sales guy about Neotel straight, do use it, I had to answer a few questions, but they walked outta the shop and the sales guy almost had security escort me out.

We must keep it up.

Oddly enough things have improved for me since the schena****ns last night.

My latency improved from 220 to 160ms and speed is up to 1.5mb/s from 1mb/s

I wonder what theyre up to?

Been noticing a little bit of a trend emerging. Though it could be just pure speculation at this point, what i've noticed is that my connection on the weekends is really bad but as soon as monday hits... it's back to normal and i'm downloading/browsing without a problem.

I keep a ping running constantly to certain sites that I know my response time and what it should be. On the weekends, the connection stays alive but I get 'request timed out' messages the whole time. That means the connection is still alive but .....data just isn't going anywhere.

This morning before work i checked again and lo and behold the dl's were going strong at >70kb/s.

Will be interesting to see if this happens again on this weekend.

I got this via e-mail earlier...

Dear Valued Client,

We would like to thank you for your patience while we have been attempting to resolve the technical issue we have been experiencing regarding slow speeds on our network.
As part of the possible solution we will be implementing some changes on the network this evening in an effort to resolve these issues.
These changes are a part of suggested solutions being implemented and testing will be ongoing to determine the success of the suggested changes.
We would value your feedback on the status of your problem after these changes have been executed.

Regards

Neotel Technical Support Team

I phoned them on Thursday last week and spoke to a guy name Kumbulani. He knew what he was talking about and said he filed my ticket to get tower 320 fixed, and that I would receive a phone call from the tech team. Its now Monday and no phone call, and not even a nice email... :(

They don't phone back. I'm still waiting for my call from over a month and a half ago.

epic

Internet here is a joke. No ADSL in my area, Wimax retarded price, iBubbles too expensive and unpredictable, and Neotel comes on their shiney steed saying they will fix the country by providing decent "working" internet. I was impressed for roughly a week. Been dead for 2. I need some fixing!

Apparently Cape Town is all ok now. They'd better fix Sandton/Olivedale soon too.

Squeezing a 1mbit to 1.5mbit peak at the moment. Up from this morning but sill irritating considering what I had pre-Saturday night.

I just called the call centre for the first time...

OMG! Are they kidding ? Clueless and disinterested.

I was told the base stations were being upgraded and there were network issues and I should just sit tight.

I remarked - "Well you better not be f&^%ing with my base station" which resulted in an awkward unsure laugh from the agent.

He didn't say - "No of course not sir"

Sigh.

Seriously though ? Surely the towers can't have THAT many issues all the time ? I bet this has to do with a dodgy setup at Neotel and f^ckall to do with the towers.

I think it's more of a overload of users. I was told by a NeoTech that came out that a Base Station they put up cost between R4-6mill for one. So I doubt it's dodgy setup.
