Broadband pricing and SEACOM

this makes me sick to the stomach. I give up completely, not going to battle this beast any longer and not going to hope for any improvements.

I am completely over this "promise promise promise" and then "excuse excuse excuse".
 
Just looking at neotel's new offering's out of bundle rate already tells me that there is a groot monopoly going on here when you compare it to other providers. We are being raped by our telecoms provider but we just keep bending over.

We don't care about the overall price reduction on broadband, we care about that 20-25% cost saving on bandwidth!

Damn. Whenever I see the titles for these articles I get the feeling I'm going to be reading news on new prices announced and that they have actually come down! :mad:
 
According to Knott-Craig a more competitive telecoms market can be created by handing out the available spectrum to operators who have the money and manpower to utilize it best, lowering interconnect rates and avoiding Government initiatives like Infraco.

Then why didn't he lower interconnect rates while he was in charge of Vodacom? :confused: Why doesn't Vodacom lower interconnect rates now?
 
Good thing I was expecting the worst ........ at least I haven't had my optimistic-bubble burst like some other members.

Neotel's out of bundle rate has been 8c from day one. The problem is that no one has coverage which helps jack sh**.
 
I am quite willing to buy an ISP package that does not provide redundancy. If the cable breaks, I'm boned, and I can accept that. I have a single copper line to my house, and if that breaks, I'm stuffed anyway. Of course this won't float for people that need a guaranteed line, but for the general public having cheap less reliable bandwidth is better than not having it at all.

Yeah me too. I am disappointed everytime. I am now getting to the point where I think I need to figuratively go to sleep on this issue and hope that when I wake up in a year's time that something has changed. What I am afraid of is that based on what the big wigs are saying, it might have to be 5 years. :confused:
 
The big knobs have finally admitted that their national anthem for the past decade has been a farce: "International Bandwidth makes broadband expensive". Only 20% of cost? You have got to be kidding.
 
saw neotel at a stand at centurion mall. asked what was on special and they said everything. i said, too bad you don't cover my area!

It seems to me no matter how many cables they put in place the will find a reason to keep prices high. First we were told wait for SEACOM, now we must wait for WACS :mad: WTF. :eek::sick::mad:

And as an added note, my prediction of 2011 (after the world cup) has been reverberated by these incompetent fools. Rape us some more Mr. Vodacom/Telkom/MTN/Neotel/CellC/Virgin Mobile....

Exactly. If international only makes up 20% of the per gig cost, why is local only so cheap? (I'm talking about the cost after you have already paid for the copper).
