New Telkom pricing kicks in

I attempted to cancel my Do1 subscription in order to switch over to Do2 tomorrow, but got put on hold for over an hour, starting at around 4:00PM, and nobody ever answered so now I'm stuck with Do1 for the next month it seems.
Ah well.
 
/me is happy to say that last month was /me 's last month with TelkomInternet. This month I'm skimming through on what I have left on pre-paid, then hello Axxess Uncapped :D
 
Do not want to be a roumour monger, but a 1.86m tall brown haired Telkom employed birdie I know told me that we are in for a big Telkom ADSL announcement in September. Got to do with line rental and per Gig pricing etc.

Will have to see it to believe it. :o
 
It might be miserly but it is a price drop. Seems to be lots of noise around about reducing prices. I still think Seacom is already starting to make a difference. I think every month for the next 2 years we will see a drop.

Its not the same price, the line rental and other call charges are being increased which basically compensates for the bigger cap.

sigh.
 
There are certain households in this country which never use more than a gig a month , surely they should be offered some compensation ???

The price is staying the same we just get ever so slightly more bandwidth.

Lets hope the telkom birdie is right but i've learnt not to get any hope up. I thin k there's a thread here from 12 months ago (or more) that said a telkom birdie told someone the 384's were being upped to 512.
 
Why can't I even call them to order TelkomInternet? They just switch me from department to department. Arghhh Telkom

It doesn't work that way.
Your DStv subscription buys you 24x7 channels. Why should you get 'compensation' if you only use it for a day a month? Until now, SAT3 members (Telkom has 27%) made volume purchase commitments in advance, and that has to be recovered even if no-one uses their whole quota. That's why there's no roll-over, and why there can be no 'compensation'. Telkom has to pay for it anyway.
 
Oh well. Sorry Telkom. You just lost my business for this month because you are too g damn lazy to work on weekends or to put a system in place which processes orders on the weekends

Fraid it doesn't work that way.

I've got a TV license (Doh - stupid!) and don't watch any TV - I would also like compensation.

I can tell you now that this is going to give them positive ratings in the general public!The normal people who don't know what speed their ADSL line is and get 3GB confused with 3MB will think"WOW Telkom is giving me a extra 2GB for free"because they never knew that there was a soft cap in place and that in fact we are only getting 200mb more :(

Telkom FAIL!
