Afrihost now asking for scan of Credit Card

Hi,

Afrihost seems to be sending the following message to those who sign up now:

"Hi ******

Our system has been unable to verify your credit card details, please can you send a scan of the front and back of the card?

Has anyone else received this message, as both a friend and I have received it, in spite of my card being verified by them previously.

I know they weren't asking for a few days ago, but seem to be asking for it now.
 
dont do this, its a scam!

soeone is obviously spoofing thei email address, which is so easy to do, if you fall for this one, then u deserve to be robbed : ) I dont care who they are I freeking will never ever scan the front and back of my CCard for just ayone who send an email.....cooooommmmooonnnnnn

Man, it is definitely from them.
It comes together with the auto-response email asking for the scan of your ID, when you sign up for a new account.

Next month I will receive a warning email from my bank.
"due to high volumes of fraud ....
Dear customer please do not send your scanned CCard to anyone."
 
Any chance of quoting the whole message + give the email address that send it.
 
It's extremely poor business practice. I would not do it.

hmmmm, I would be very careful of this.... it may indeed be from them, but it is a very stupid request. A scan of the front and back of your card would give them access to your CVV number (the last three digits on the back of your card) with which anyone can use your card online without actually needing to have the card in their possession. If they insisted on seeing the card I would just send them a webcam photo of me holding the card. That should be enough for them to see that I do have the card in my possession.

just went thru my activation emails, NO SUCH THING....SOMOENE IS SCREWING WITH U!!!
As I said, if u really want to scan in the back and front of your ccard, go ahead... just cc me a copy...thx..couple things I need for the weekend :)

And even if it is really Afrihost, I sure as s h i t wouldnt send anyone a back and front of my ccards....i mean come on....!!!!

yeah and who the hell is Peter, and why is the 'Director' and not 'accounts' sending it to you...I tell u this has the cheap smell of a lame attempt at a scam...lol....I bet if we could track the email spoof, it came from India :D:D:D
 
I won't even if it is from telkom. Cause if they have the card number, your name and the CVV the 3 digit number at the back of the card they can empty your credit card! NEVER NEVER give those details unless you are 100% sure. You will be sorry if they fraud you and the bank won't carry it cause you gave the details out!
