Neotel CDMA network capacity and coverage to be doubled

blah blah blah. Neotel customers continue to suffer whilst the big pigs in control make stupid statements and promises.

BTW, Where is our bandwidth meter and where is our customer support?

If you double the coverage and you have the same number of subscribers per given area as the current network then doubling the capacity will give you exactly the same bandwidth per subscriber once the coverage is doubled.
However capacity "will be almost doubled" which means that the bandwidth per subscriber will actually decrease! Talk about capacity planning ... :cool:

i.e. Expect the same crappy speeds you've been getting thus far.

I guess that means that all the articles describing the problems and lack of coverage were just a hoax. Good to know! </sarcasm>

Just because it will enable Neotel to do this, doesn't mean they are going to.
And yes, based on current experience, this is the real world expectation of crap coverage, badly designed product sets, poor planning on network capacity, lack of support, etc etc.

From what I gather in this article, are they saying that there is a migration path from CDMA to LTE? Will Neotel then eventually (sometime in the future, when LTE is a reality) be competing directly against MTN and Vodacom on the LTE front?

Or am I missing something?
 
Yeah Neotel lets give you a round of applause!

Fix the current network issues or you want have good enough name to attract customers to a newer network because all the orginal ones would have left and spread the word.

Its almost like these people are planning to fail on purpose judging by all the mismanagement. When you cant even get your core competencies right what the hell are you doing in that industry to start with???

Wish there was a way to get our frustrated users heard. Maybe we should gather up some folk and stage a protest to get on tv news or something or take out a full page ad again to get the job done. sigh. why should we have to resort to these ways :(
 
We're still at R70 per gig, while others are offering 4mbps for 29 per gig

no, the migration is from REV A to REV B
 
I support all the comments above... 8 months down the calendar and no bandwidth meter, no support except the comment stating "Eish, the tower must be congested"
Then why the hell do they keep selling more contracts if the tower in an area cannot take more users... The end product, expecting 300Kbs, getting 64Kbs. Oh, and dont forget about the marketing stunts where they tell you about the burst rates of 1,200+Kbs... Congested towers do not even allow for that anymore.

Doubling coverage = doubling users per tower. What idiots!
We might even be worse off!
 
For an operator to invest 100% more in their network can't be all that bad. That's a lot of capex to spend on customers. I'm personally pleased because having 1000 free on-net minutes is no use unless you have a lot of people to talk to.

Remember Neotel had to do this because the local loop unbundling never happened as planned.

Let's arrange some stick-swinging "rent-a-crowd" people to be bussed in from somewhere rural, some hooligans to burn some throw-away tyres and stage real loud toyi-toyi sessions (supposedly complaining about poor service delivery) around every single Neotel building in the country - Neotel may even benefit from the free press, advertisement and TV coverage.
 
It is bullsh*t articles like this the persuided me to try Neohell. It as been the worst experience of life including being conscripted into the SADF (also a 24month contract). I wish there was a way to stop these clowns ripping off Joe public.

Just for info, After firmware upgrade I'm getting 3.1 Mb/s on Flex in peak time, see http://www.speedtest.net/result/590157925.png. Tests done in peak time 8 pm, and in a no coverage area with antenna. Previously, got 2 Mb/s, which i also found to be sufficient.

For someone that had to live with crappy 3G/HSUPA etc crap for a long time, Neotel is performing reasonable.
