Free wireless networks gain momentum

What do u need to do to be a high site? just curious.. current location would be excellent for that :D
 
i wish some one would provide a high site in the Woodmead area

Not sure about the Wug in your area, but with CTWUG if you can offer access to that location for us to put hardware we will see if it is a good site. If so, we put up a project page, get the site financed, then go build it.

That would be you, wugging is about the community building the network, if you dont have coverage you make coverage, make a plan, find a location to use as a highsite and connect to a existing one and broadcast from there. "They" aren't just going to put up highsites because it's fun, the prospective users in a area must work together make their own coverage.
 
For example, the decision to put up a link from Irene to the Hornbill highsite was decided by normal users. No "them" or "they". That's what WUG is about, come up with good ideas and if it makes sense, just do it. No need to ask "them" for permission (within limits of course). There is no them. It's just us - you and me. If we don't build the network, who will? Definitely a case of a DIY network. Both the mentioned Irene and Hornbill towers were built by wuggers from scratch...

I'm practically at the bottom of the valley if you look at the LOS
 
then go and find someone on the top, someone's ouma or friend or buddy or boss or something. we have driven around with PTAWUG flyers putting them in post boxes and handing them to people to look for a highsite on a hill.
Also, look at the google earth KML for nodes that people plotted that are in the right location to cover woodmead - then contact them on wug.za.net.

Giffie - a guy 30km north of Pretoria North on a farm drove around looking for a place to put up a highsite, he then spoke to the owner of the farm, then built a tower and put up a relay highsite to get coverage to his farm, now we can kill Giffie in CSS every night.
