As of late the my Blackberry service seems anything but nippy even for EDGE. Anyone else having a similar experience?

The speedtest application reports a max download speed of only 18.32Kbit/s

On my Blackberry Storm web browsing is at least 10 times slower than on my notebook, making it virtually unusable.

Has it always been or is it a recent occurrence? Do you browse on your notebook via 3G?

Pretty much the same since I got the Storm in February this year. When using the Storum as a modem, data access is much faster, almost as fast as with my data modem. So I think the problem is with the Storm's web browser. Possibly the RAM and processor, but I don't know much about that.

Whatever the reason, web browsing on the Storm is very slow, way below 3G speeds. The signal indicator is also very erratic, sometimes I can't browse while I know there is a signal.

my bold as well has been quite slow of recent... takes forever to load a page
tried changing the browser identification to Firefox or IE but no difference

Remember, browsing on your BB goes through RIM's servers, and they use a separate APN than normal VC...

That could possible explain why browsing on your PC through the phone is quick, as you might be using the normal "internet" APN.

On my (aging) Pearl on Edge, I don't see too much difference?

If the memory on the device is low, you'll experience general slowdown. So I don't think it would be this.

My current download speed is . . . apparently too slow to be measured by the looks of things . . . wait . . . here it comes . . . 3.87 Kbits/s

upload is a more respectable 20.35.

Posted now: 120 Kbits/s download, 24 upload.
On Vodacom (as per speedtest.net) 2100 Kbits/s download, 1170 Kbits/s upload.

Therefore speed on BB Storm 18 times slower than on notebook via Vodacom.

I only use Operamini for browsing on both my BlackBerry's, whole lot better than the BlackBerry browser.

Pretty sure there is no difference between the BB and internet APN's on the VC network, but as posted when it leaves our network, the BB data will take another route. And, of course, will go through their servers.

I'll ask if they have a QoS level for the service.

I'll load the app and also test.

I havn't done the speed test yet, but I downloaded vodafone sat nav app the other day (1.3MB) and it took like 15mins. Infact most of the stuff in the 1MB range that I d/l takes awefully long.

Had a blackberry Bold

Slow speed. Sometimes not even responding with full 3G coverage.

But late at night speeds reach about 120 kb/s

Unfortunately, not good enough so I Sold it!!!

I dont know who is to blame for the speeds.
Vodacom or Blackberry????

Can anyone provide more information on this?
