Well it makes sense to scrap it since with the DTT switchover, you won't be able to watch TV unless the SABC knows about you and your equipment, and de-scrambles the signal for your set-top box.
So now I am going to be funding the useless SABC indirectly via my TAX, VAT, etc?
Socialism, here we go.
Bad news for people without TV licenses is that existing TV licenses will remain valid, and therefore payable, until the end of the financial year when the new broadcasting act comes into force. Money owed to the SABC in terms of TV licenses will also remain valid until fully paid up.

While I certainly support the scrapping of the direct licence fee tax, this just means the wasteful spending will come via other taxes.
The only acceptable solution is to shut the SABC down.
Huh? If I don't have a TV license, then it isn't payable, or am I missing something?
