Uncapped ADSL service starting at R500 per month

..This means a user will pay R400 now..

..allowing for 2 concurrent line connections. Users are responsible for their own router and ADSL access...

So basically if I go halves with someone, paying R200 a month, I'll get uncapped access at a slow speed? I only have a 384 line, so the max download rate at 256 is fine for me..

Anyone wanna go halves :D ?

:eek::eek:
Is this some kind of a (mean) joke?

How do concurrent connections work? Will both "connectors" get 256kb/s or 128kb/s (when both are connected and downloading)?

If you're sharing a line then maybe. But no, on two lines each person will receive full speed.

Yes this is fantastic news finally - Just cannot get access to their website
Using the BCS Seacom access via 20 x STM-1 (155Mb/s circuits)

Why do I say that ?

To think I almost signed a 24 month contract with SAOL. Ironically, it was Garyvdh who told me not to:):):)

So if two people go halves at R250 per person, there will be no cap and the speed they recieve will be whatever line speed they have because the ISP only provides the bandwidth, not the speed. Am I correct?

This is all good and well.
The pricing however : "the ‘Hot’ package offers an unlimited 1024Kb/s service for R3 000 per month."

How will this compete with OpenWeb's "VC1024" package, "Up to 4096k" at "R2699".
I have a 4MB/s line and expect to use it to the full.

Perhaps if someone could devise a throttled package operating at 1024kbps during office hours and un-throttle it after hours it may be worth considering.

This offer sounds too good to be true. 2 concurrent connections on an uncapped account? Surely something is up with these guys. I wouldn't rush into this just yet...

I agree, could be another SocialFluInternet story...

Not in this case. The ISP also has a speed so you will receive the lower speed (either line or ISP). In this case it will be ISP (256kb/s).

But still, at 256kb/s you could download around 85gb in a month which works out to +/- R5/gig, R2.50 if you split it!

Oh ok cool, thats still not bad at all!!!!

According to Darren Smith, Managing Director of DigiChilli, “these are all burstable services up to double the advertised speed.”

Not sure exactly what is meant by this?
Does this refer to 2 concurrent connections or perhaps that the speed will be 'burst' to double at certain times?

Just worried about congested IPConnect pipe, Neotel network and this equals poor access to Seacom.
Time will tell if this will be a successful product.
Lets wait for MyBB users to report back on DigiChilli Billing & Support Teams

Home DSL -> DSLAM = ATM (IPConnect) <=> BCS <=> Neotel <=> Seacom

This deserves a 5 star rating for some great news

The service will be officially launched on 1 December 2009, but there is currently a pre launch special available.

Ok, this is puzzling. There is no sign up section so I registered (no confirmation needed), logged in and still can't see a sign up section . Where do you sign up for this pre launch special?
