Telkom ADSL triple play planned

Telkom financial results

• Vodacom transaction accounts for profit of R40.4 billion.
• Impairment of Multi-Links goodwill of R2,148 million.
• Operating revenue up 4.0% to R18.7 billion.
• Headline earnings per share from continuing operations decreased
by 37.9% to 242.2 cents.
• Basic earnings per share decreased 141.2% to a loss of 150.2
cents per share.
• Group EBITDA margin decreased to 27.3% from 32.3%.
• Total dividends paid out during the reporting period of R11.2
billion.
• Net debt reduced by R8.7 billion decreasing annualised net debt
to EBITDA from 1.4 times to 0.8 times.
• Group restructuring into distinct profit centres 85% complete.
• New data centre operation business unit launched – branded
Cybernest.
• 51.1% increase in Do broadband subscribers.
 
telkom share prices dropped 5% today at one stage... u guys better do something special like Afrihost to attract new customers and not lose your existing ones...

Lets assume everyone has 384k line....

548 015 x R156 =
548 015 x R131 =

That's R156 million minimum on rental only.........

"602 720 in September 2009."

602 720 x R156 = R 94 024 320
602 720 x R131 = R 78 956 320

That's R173 million minimum on rental only.........

Erm. Last time I checked the "best" Telskum had to offer was a UP TO 4mb with a 5GB cap. Not exactly high end really?

Yes but now work out the amounts for:
Salaries of employees
Vehicles maintenance/rental/fuel
Maintenance needed on lines/exchanges
Rental of offices/shops
other costs....

its not going to come close to their expenses. Remember those figures are per month..........its over a R1.4 billion a year
 
Any guesses on who these triple play partners may be? They've sold off Telkom Media - I wander if they're talking to Naspers?

What are you talking about?

Surely R173 million is pocket change to telecoms companies. While that may seem like a lot of money to you these sort of companies bring in double digit billions annually.

R173 million is like car guard money.
