UEC DStv HD PVR now available

no word on the disk size in the UEC decoder?

Last rumors says its quite a bit smaller.

Still happy with my PACE decoder, I just wish Monochoice would stop insisting on their own software and use the vendor software that is far far far far far far superior.

One would assume the specifications will be similar. MultiChoice could not tell me what the HDD size of the UEC HDPVR was when I called today :(

It has a 500GB drive, just like the Pace version....

I would still buy the Pace version simply because it looks better. I wonder which blind moron at UEC thought their decoder looked even vaguely acceptable to the real world.

That audio sync issue puts me off, immediately. Who allowed that through? Nothing bugs me more than out of sync audio.

New UEC DStv HD PVR now available

The long awaited UEC HD PVR from MultiChoice now available

The price for the new UEC HD PVR – model number DSD4660 - is R2999, exactly the same as the current PACE HD PVR. MultiChoice has previously revealed plans to launch a more affordable, ‘entry level’ HD PVR, but the company said that there is currently no planned launch date or pricing available for this device.

So for 4 months I've been holding off on buying a PVR because DSTV promised a cheaper locally made version. Now they say its the SAME price. What sharks!

Local is not Lekka in this case. I prefer the black PACE version now.

What morons. Maybe they think they can fix the problem with a firmware update - LOL

If it has the same software installed as that of the Pace, it makes absolutely no difference, other than that the UEC is model is silver, which again ruins the standard black look of other AV components in your household.

I had a DSD 910 that went to a black screen sound whenever it felt like it, necessitating a reboot. Multichoice said the decoder might have overheated and since it was out of warranty, I went and bought a DSD 1110. This decoder drops sound via S-PDIF whenever the mood takes it, or sound loses sync. So ya, new hardware is no good when the software running on it is kuk.

Read the article again. The cheaper one is still on its way - with 2 tuners.

rofl. Same price for a piece of ugly **** with annoying bugs? go to hell noChoice.

Thought they were supposed to be identical hardware wise - but this says faster processor, boot up time etc?
