Just heard a new advert on the radio for Sentech's new "Flexi" package:
They say something like "try our new MyWireless 3G Flexi" yadda yadda yadda....

Now correct me if i'm wrong - but Sentech doesn't use 3G technology?!? The use something else - 3G is a specific GSM standard and not just general name for wireless broadband.

What gives - surely they not allowed to say that... infringement of a trade mark or something...

3G is a very broad term for next generation RF cellular technology and signalling mechanisms that can handle both Voice and Data. IPWireless, technically is 3G, it's just not compatible with any other "3G".

I look at it this way:
MyWi is based on the UMTS standard, which is otherwise known as 3G.
There are basically two types of UMTS - TDD & FDD.
FDD is basically voice centric, and TDD is data centric
MyWi uses the "data centric" UMTS TDD
