I-mate Jamin Vodacom MMS Settings

Can somebody please help me setup my i-mate jamin for mms? I'm a struggling receiving mms. i've installed the cab file from leaf and club imate and still it does not work.

I've also tried the following but still I cannot download the mms;

1) Create a connection under Setting->Connections->Advanced-Select Networks.

Under 'Programs that connect to the internet', create a new setting called MMS. Under that create a new connection called mms.gprs with the APN set to mms.vodacom.net

Don't set the MMS connection as the default otherwise your browsing won't work. Leave the default on internet.gprs.

2) Go to the MMS app and then to Options->Servers

Create a new server called MMS with gateway 196.6.128.6 and home page http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za.

3) Go to Options->Preferences

Under Connect via: Select MMS
Under Connect to Server: Select MMS

This should get you up and running. The two MMS's already received probably are lost as the MMSC will think it did deliver it to you, so send and receive new MMS's to test.

I also struggled like crazy with Vodacom MMS settings.

The crucial setting on my Jasjar was the "port number" which must be 9201 . [Somewhere i had it 8080].

My settings:

"Connect via Connection"
Name : MMS.GPRS [Cellular Line (GPRS,3g)
Access Point Name : mms.vodacom.net
user/pass : blank

"MMS settings
Server name : Vodacom4me MMSC
Gateway : 196.6.128.6
Port Number : 9201
Server Address : http://mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
-->Connect via [select connection set up above]


Also under "settings -> connections -> GPRS Setting" , make sure GPRS Authenticaion = PAP

I have tried to follow the steps on how to send and recieve MMS but failed to download the pic sent
 
okay here is what you do ..

go to you connections ..
now add new modem under MY WORK network
call it mms
select a modem - Cellular line GPRS
access point - mms.vodacom.net

no user name no password

MMS config.
Servers
server name - MMS
gateway - 196.6.128.6
server address - http:/mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
connect via - My work network

Wap 1.2 normally works more consistently ..

If these settings dont work .. you havent followed my instructions :)

The Guy- I've also tried your settings (which are the same as the other mentioned above), it still brings the error message "unable to recieve your message. Your message will remain in the Inbox".

Those settings work .. you must of over looked something small .. delete your existing config and start fresh it should work ...
Your device will not be able to recieve MMS when it is plugged in to your PC ..
and make sure your internet connection is configured under your " My ISP " and your MMS modem connection needs to be under your My work network ..
 
Also remember, if it's new SIM that's never sent MMS's, to first send a MMS out., kinda like to tell the systems you exist. Otherwise you'll not be able to receive a MMS.
 
Heheheh. Well, maybe you could help me with something else then?

How do I change my setup to use my wireless network at home to access the internet and MSN if it's available? It connects to the network and everything and Internet Explorer sort of works, but it doesn't load the images... (might be cached?)

Any ideas?
 
okay on Internet Explorer hit Menu - View make sure you have a tick next to Show Pictures ..
Let me know if you get any joy ..
 
The Guy, it's being full of nonsense... I was able to check my hotmail mail through it the other night, and MSN messenger worked as well, not all of a sardine it doesn't want to again... grrr...

Is there anyway that I can reset all the connections back to their original settings? So i can start from scratch?

For MMS: Use GPRS
For Mail (hotmail and other) and Browsing: Use wireless if available

Please help?
 
soft resets normally solve the mysterious hiccups from time to time. next time you log onto your wifi network check your IP address, make sure you getting one. also try resetting your access point. basic troubleshooting. has anything changed since you could last log on?

I've just done a soft reset, let's hope it works, yeh?

I have fiddled around with the settings a bit, brainchild that I am.

I checked the connection and I am getting an IP. When I do a send and receive, it just moans that it cannot connect with the current settings. Merf.

On slightly similar, but different note: Every now a white block with a "G" on (for GPRS, I assume) shows up - does that mean it's connecting to GPRS? If so, whyyyy Larry, whyyyy?!

I got it sorted out. A bit of a drastic movie, but I did a hard reset after backing up all my contacts and chose "Vodacom Wap 1.2" as the setup.

It seems that, as part of that setup, it uses the wireless network when it's available, and reverts to GPRS if not. I was sending emails and surfing the 'net from it earlier today - all while sitting in the lounge watching TV! :D

Man! I love this phone! :D
 
A hard reset was going to be the last resort ..
The little block with the G notifies you that the service is available .. two little arrows will appear in the block when connected ...
by default it will use Wifi first ...
You gotta dig windows mobile ... i cant use anything else now ..
 
Hmmm... I am having some hassles with this again. My GPRS connects and everything, but it fails to download the MSS. Just says something about being unable to download it and the notification will stay in my inbox.

Any ideas?

Your MMS is either not configured, but it also wont connect to MMS when you are currently connected to a GPRS connection ... check your MMS settings
