Hi

I think I read (on this list) about a company providing some kind of intermediate torrent service some months ago, but can't find the post :-(

Service:

You log into the server (international I think), start a torrent download from this server and disconnect. (the server acts as a torrent client)
Later you connect to the "torrent-client" server and download the torrented file to your PC, at full speed, with an unshaped protocol (ftp?)

Anybody know who provides this service ?

Tnx

He absconded to the uk the bloody thief. Still owes me about 30 gigs

ja I was joking, lucky I never got involved with that...

Chopsuey, there is a guy who does this legitamily now.. cant remember who he is though, somethign like torrentbox or torrent flux, try a search in the forum.

Thanx EHV

It seems it was torrentbox/Slimothy I was thinking about ;-(

Does torrentflux work like this? Is it free? Can't figure it out...

I dont really understand all of chopsueys explanation.

But how I think its works is that you get the torrent file for them to download and then they (torrentflux people) will donwload it for you on thier superfast American servers, tehn they host it on thier FTP or http site and you get the link and can downlaod it full speed without shaping or having to upload to download it.
And you pay, per gig I think.

yes it does, but you have to install it on your own server - so unless you can do that, it doesn't ;)

jip ,exactly...just installed it on my linux servers, realy easy!

Testing it now...
Fun thing is,you upload torrent, click 'run' and leave....
You dont have to be online the whole time...and the software costs nada!

Here's a sample account, you wont be able to download(i think), but still...now you can see how it looks like/works. Play around a bit, enjoy!

OFFLINE International Linux Server.
login name: tester
pass: tester

Dont abuse it now!!

EDIT:
I've removed it for now...just shout if you want me to enable the test acc again if you want to see how it looks like/works

So ld13, where do I sign up ? ;-)

Were are you hosting this sever ? Dedicated or Virtual ?

I might do the same if I can find some cheap hosting.

It's Virtual, but the prob is,it's International...and I still need to tweak some settings ....or the Firewall may be blocking me:mad:
i pay R21 p/m for this International hosting,
*dreaming of Dedicated hosting,CHEAP CHEAP*

http://www.esecuredata.com/pricingLinux.aspx

They offer a dedicated server for @59pm

If a bunch of us team up and split the cost it won't be that bad.

Here is how it works:

Torrentflux (www.torrentflux.com) is a web based interface that you can use to download torrents to the (overseas) server. Once there you log onto that server with ftp/http/whatever you want and download the files. It beats shaping AND you do not upload anything. The overseas server does the sharing for you so you can seed your torrents to 200% to become a VIP at some trackers, yet you as user only download exactly the ammount you want.

If anyone wants to, pm me and i can set up this torrentflux for you.

You need:
Windows/Linux based server
Apache/IIS
PHP
MySQL
Python (this is very important)

wolfie, the test account can see the files you (wolfiez) have downloaded. not such a hot idea:-)
