Morning peeps,

I need some advise please. Yesterday I received my Daily Usage stats from Telkom ISP with the following:

Uploaded : 24.42MB
Downloaded : 525.78MB
Combined Total : 550.21MB
Service threshold : 3.00GB

This morning I get this:

Uploaded : 1.84GB
Downloaded : 18.90GB
Combined Total : 20.74GB
Service threshold : 3.00GB

Now I would be able to accept this if I were on a 4Mb connection, but i'm only on a 384K connection.

I have therefore been cut off and am unable to authenticate to the server.

Can anyone give me advise on what i should do.

Thanks,

DjStyles

My stats havent been updating for at least the past week so it could be a matter of your account just playing catch-up.

EDIT - or if you're absolutely certain you couldn't have used that much this month your first recourse is to contact them and query it.

Havent the stats always been crazy! :D

My stats are sometimes 2 weeks behind! How does that help me?

They've suddenly included days previously showing zero usage ...
Happens all the time. The saix one seems to be more accurate and reliable.

presuming you're using the same account since the 1st, its now the 22nd and they say you've done 20gig, you say you only have a 384k line - absolutely possible.

Good luck mate - don't think they'll believe you - change your passwords and router passwords.

btw... I'm on a 384k and i'm currently sitting on a total for this month : 81.93gb. - Thankyou Openweb :)

I'm getting the same thing... telkominternet stats are wrong... looks like the system was down for about a week and some idiot double accounted when loading the backlogs.
The phone support is up $h1t-creek as well. No-one seems to know who deals with the usage queries, and thats across 0800375375, 0800500200 and 10215. What a bunch of retards.

My TelkomInternet stats are behind, as per usual, but not above what it should be. SAIX Tracker gives me 100% correct reading

Ok... my TelkomInternet stats are nothing like the SAIX stats. They reflect higher usage... by about 40%!

How would you know the SAIX Tracker is correct? Incompetence and downright stupidity have a wonderful way of spreading... particularly thru Telkom divisions.

You can also see how they tally with http://userstats.adsl.saix.net/ which seems to be updated more regularly.

Thanks for the link bwana,

I just checked the saix stats and their stats say i've done 2,1GB, telkom say i've done 20,7GB.

The site also says i managed to download between 7 and 8Gb per day over 2 days, and upload of 1gb per day for the same days.

Is that even possible on adsl384?

Nope. Maximum if you're constantly uploading and downloading at full speed for 24 hours is ~ 4.1GB

Edit: Check the SAIX thingie for concurrent connections

I think the most you could do in 24 hours is about 3.5gb down isnt it? (if you consider 384 is about 42Kb/s with overheads)

Have you been in touch with TelkomInternet?

Ask them to check if there've been any concurrent connections, someone might be using your password.

lol, I started replying before you fixed 35 to read 3.5, got all confused and thought I misread.

Yeah, you're correct about 3.5 being about the max down. I shouldn't have counted upload as well.

Definitely something wrong there assuming there weren't any concurrent connections.

Help! I have a similar problem. My telkom adsl stats claim my usage this month is 3.3625 GB which is way more than what it really is, resulting is me exceeding the cap. The SAIX adsl stats more accurately puts it at only 2.37 GB . What can I do? I sure as hell don't wanna be capped because telkom 'think' i'm over the limit...

hey guy's, thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I sent a very nasty email through to [email protected] clearly showing them the error on there stats page. I also showed them the difference between their page and the SAIX stats page.

well no surprise, not a single response, so I sent another email stating that if I do not get any response from them, they can take it as my cancellation letter. To my surprise, still no response from them, but my account seems to be reset. Let see how long it will stay active.

Thanks again for all your comments and suggestions.

Apparently they have realized the errors in their usage stats as it looks like they might have reset everyone capped today
