Just thought about it this morning when I shaved.

What do you guys prefer to use? Wet or dry shaving? And the reason for that?

Same for the ladies - I see those shaving adverts on telly as well, and wonder what do you prefer... wet or dry, and the reason why.

I shave dry, because the shaving blades are too expensive. I used my shaver (Philishave basic one) for more than two years now, it set me back with R400 or so when I bought it.

Figured out that I can save some money on shaving blades as these are too expensive, but do love a wet shave as it's just smoother.

Last I saw a pack of shaving blades for the Gillette 2 was about R50 or so...

Cheers

Wet shave. I recently started using those old style double edged Gillette blades. The blades are ridiculously cheap and do an awesome job especially when used with a proper shaving brush and soap.

Before that I used the Mach 3 but decided I'd rather use the money to put food on the table rather than to take hair off my face ;)

Bought razor blades yesterday - R69 for 4 Mach3's. Mach3Turbo, which appears to be a grey Mach3 was >R100

I used to do the wet one, recently changed to dry. Dry is easier, but causes skin irritation. Now I just shave less. Girlfriend does not want me to shave anyway.

Definitely wet…Mach 3 here as well. I do not however shave every day…I let it ride for a few days until people start to look at you with disgust :D

The king actually uses both!

I use a Philishave for the 'pre' run and then use a Sensor Excel (very old, but still fantastic to use) blade to get my cheeks as soft as a baby's bum. :)

*I know it's a bit over the top, but I got the scare of my life as a midshipman @ Naval College (that was in 1991, but will never ever forget it). We had an early morning inspection and one of the guys forgot to shave. So the Chief petty officer instructed him to go and fetch a bucket of sea water and shave himself (without any shaving cream) in front of us. His face was screwed up for weeks after that... :(

So, now you know why I will always make sure I'm cleanly shaven. :)

That's my strategy too. :D Also definitely wet though, skin got too irritated when I used an electric razor before.

Definitely a wet shave... I use my Ferrari razor every day :D Except when I forget. Then I shave in the car on the way to work.

I draw a parallel with bwana. used to use mach3, got tired of paying more for blades than i did for booze in a given week.

now using a pre ww2 gillete double edged "safety" razor, some shaving soap and a badger hair brush. blades cost sweet f*all. and the actual shave is as good if not better.

my wife fears my next upgrade will be a tophat and walking stick.

Is she a bear? I am yet to meet a girl that actually likes stubble other than on a model in a photograph.

Wet shave, Mach 3, a dry shave is not smooth enough. What I did recently was buy a new Mach 3 razor which included 2 blades on a special for about R40. So in future I will just look out for the specials and score.

I also use a blade for too long, for the price I try to get the maximum use from a blade.

I think I pay r15 for 5. :)

What - no pocket watch? :D

It surprises me how many people use the Mach 3, I can't stand it.

I wet shave twice a week with the Schick Extreme 3, the one with flexible blades, it awesome, and cheaper than the Mach 3.

Bought a Mach 3 yesterday. Used to use Cut Throat set that my grand dad gave me but I have no time in the morning to do it anymore.

Throat Cutter. Minora blades are cheap and it gives you the closest shave that you will ever have.... Abit dangerous the first few times but you get use to it....:p
