Telkom call rates to other networks

Not just anti-competitive, but incredibly confusing to the consumer. You've got no chance of trying to figure out what a phone call will cost you, or figuring out cheaper options.

And of course none of those calls will be included in your Closer package...

Doen't the interconnect rate work both ways ? If the call originates from the other side, the other party gets paid. Make a call from Datapro to telkom, and Datapro should get the 1.07 per minute ?

Edit: I see now that it is the outgoing rates. Knowing Telkom, it would not be 1:1 in both directions.

Why not just one rate?

Same with the broadband packages from Telkom and other providers. The same thing is being sold for different prices.

How else would they be able to stifle competition?

**** this.

Can't we ask Kim Jong-il to nuke the bastards?

rpm can start a petition and then we can fax it to Mr Jong!

Why the different rates? Why should Telfree pay 40% less than MWEB? How can these variable charges be justified?

I hope that ICASA rejects this list. All operators should be treated alike.

edit: OK, it seems that these are outgoing costs, i.e what Telkom is charging their own customers - presumably this is (loosely?)based on the interconnect charges of the various VOIP operators and hence the various levels of pricing. But what is Telkom charging these operators to connect to Telkom's network? i.e. What are the termination costs for incoming calls?

Do you have the rates for 2009. Have they changed. ??

Are 0878 numbers covered by this table ?

I dialed 200 from my MTN phone and asked what does it cost to dial 0878******. They tell me there is no such number ! huh !
