MTN - Billing System Returns to Normal (NOT)

I'm pleased to see that MTN billing is back to 'normal'.

That data counter was just spinning away my credit in no time a few weeks ago. Now it behaves better and we are getting what we paid for.

Speed is quite good too for me.

How about a refund?:p

Lucky for you..

On saturday I realised that I had 940MB left of my 2GB bundle, the expiry date of which was the 18th (i.e., yesterday) ... So anyway I started downloading like mad as there's no way I was going to let MTN take all that data back.. speed was good fortunately, but to my surprise after nearly 700MB of downloading my connection dropped.. and on checking my balance it indicated that my bundle had been depleted..

That's over 200MB of miscalculating  ... there's simply no way that my data counter could be that far off.

That pretty much sucks dude. Like I said 'MTN' and 'billing' should never be used in the same sentence.

Yes, maybe my post was a bit premature.

I'm getting some heavy 'EXTRA' downloading which I am unable to stop. I've turned off autoupdates, virus definition updates are set to manual, yet the data counter continues. Then it stops and I take a walk and come back to see another 5Meg has just disappeared.

What's interesting is that this doesn't happen on Virgin Mobile, there has to be something skew with MTN.

I only have a 500Mb bundle now, but I have set the counter so I can tell what the score is at the end. I don't know why, because there is no-one prepared to argue with at MTN about it if any is missing.

The title of this post is misleading!

'Normal' means MTN is still stealing random amounts of data from their customers.

Rather let us know when the billing system is FIXED as that is what we're all waiting for.

Ditto story to Redarrow here
Balance i checked on saturday, said there was 700mb left so i spent some time over on youtube (200mb)....
Next morning no connection ....check balance 0mb left AND it had chowed thru R400 worth of ph credit.

Also the "4" option of "check only your data balance" was'nt working sat nor sun which seems for me to always have a differant data balance.

Welcome to the MyADSL Forums! :D

Seems like there is something Up with the MTN system - Luckily I don't need to depend on the data bundles. Plain R2/mb is fine for an ADSL backup. :)

Amazing isn't it  On GPRS I used to use a few KB for keep-alive over the night(12hours) --- now it's MB's like you say.

Found out this morning that if you go over your data bundle limit, MTN just starts chewing airtime (put there with recurring bank instruction to pay for recurring data bundle) at a rate about 13 times more expensive than the bundle rate, and without as much as an SMS to warn you - R500 straight down the tubes. Thank god I bought my modem outright. Will be switching to Vodacom until this lot get their act together.

Definitely NOT normal !

No kidding!

MTN Billing is definitely not normal and hasn't changed (returned to normal) for years!

16202 -- besides requiring you to swap the SIM from your E220 modem into a cellphone to check -- is delayed and screwed.

808 mirrors 16202 ... I called last month to ask how many megs I had left and I was told 2gigs remaining (even though I had only used about 700megs or so). I queried this TWICE with two different phone calls separated by a day and was told that I had a promotional package switched on. I get the bill last month --- R700 worth of data calls apparently on my billing printout instead of the extra gig being used.

USSD doesn't work on contract subscribers (yes the people who actually take out 2gig 24 month packages amazingly!)

Why software hasn't been updated/written so that there's a digital version of 16202 on mtnsp.co.za or somewhere else still amazes me!

This is the third time I've been overcharged and have to follow up with reference numbers. I look back through the forums and for years people complain -- NOTHING changes.

Besides taking legal action I'm going to go to '3rd Degree or Special Assignment' -- there's enough for a story. And enough proof from a variety of disgruntled people. This current billing system must go.
