3.6 Mbps HSDPA held back by Telkom

Sad. :(

Hopefully MTN/Vodacom will completely their own networks soon, or be able to use Neotel.

It looks like Telkom can hardly run their own 4mbps service, especially on international.
 
LIKE WTF is TELKOM's Problem ? WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH OUR MONEY ??? They busy keeping the hole country back. As soon as some company actually want to advance the telecommunications in the this country Telkom jump in front of them and says no no you must play by our rules and our word is law not the government. Do not tell me they do not have enought money to expand this countries telecommunications years ago as they should. Then there is some big corruption\fraud happening there that they dont bother to tell the public.
CAUSE WHERE IS ALL OUR HARD EARNED MONEY GOING TO ?

Why do they still bother with old technology are they retarted or what ?
It will be interesting to know where the IT- & Project management at telkom got there brains...sorry education. Wikipedia ?

One last question: Shouldn't Telkom "the national telecommunications provider" be the leader in the new technology field ? Because my Microwave seem to be more up to date then there technology.

Anyhow, whats the point of faster internet if there are still small caps? i think people should be addressing the 3Gb issue more than the "we want 24Mbps lines!"

Or what about R200 for uncapped 8mbps.

Then again, the telecos have SA in such a state that people are even ecstatic about 384 as broadband.

MTN is busy laying its own fibre network and i can tellyou that at all the new switching stations there is a room for Neotel to put their equipment. :D
 
Telkom is a major problem and hinderer in this country.

I wonder if one can full sattelite service (not from telscum) from somewhere?
 
Hopefully now everyone will stop repeatedly asking why 3.6Mbits/s is not commercially available from Vodacom & MTN, I'm moeg having to repeat the same answer, which is Telkodemonopolies and its anti-competitive practices.

This is a big pity. At least there should be some relief next year with a lot of companies laying their own fibre.
 
Lowry previously said that MTN has to wait as long as 12 to 18 months for a new transmission link or for an existing link to be upgraded.

Don't they mean for an existing link to be less artificially limited? Capacity on a single strand of fiber can also be upgraded to 1 Terabit.

If anything this should again emphasise the need to self provision as soon as possible without using any more of Telkom if the cost wasn't enough.

You do know that diginet works on the number of cables... its not artifically limited in the sense that ADSL is. So for them to increase the capacity of a line they have to provision more cabling.

Or at least in a very basic sense thats how I understand diginet to work.
