Hardware failure causes iBurst downtime

Oepsie, well that sucks - first time in how many months that they have down time...
 
Surely there should be a redundant path? Unless that also went bye-bye
 
8 and a 1/2 hours to replace a faulty switch and to get the network up and running again? how do you apply for a job at iburst?

I know in the Accounts department they work on a commision basis: the more money you "make" out of their customers, the more you get at the end of the month. I think you need matric and "cooking" experience. You also get weekends off, apparently.

I think the explanation is they skimmped on the support level, we usually recommend 24x7x2hrs for distribution and core switches. But it does cost a lot of money though. So they must have chosen to sit with frustrated clients than spend the extra cash.
 
It's a pity it wasn't iBurst's shaping systems that blew up, although I suspect many iBurst customers would prefer it if their bank account details had been wiped off of iBurst's database instead of the network switch or whatever it was giving up the ghost.

Actually since yesterday torrents have been working for me, they were still dead a few weeks ago. :D
 
Weirdly enough, we could connect to iBurst yesterday just BEFORE 6.00am but not access the Internet. Today the exact same thing happened early this morning.
When I logged on mid-morning everything worked just fine:confused:
