I saw an earlier post about the RCP UPS Software, but the thread seems to have go hijacked and was never actually answered.

Winpower does not shutdown the UPS and Viewpower causes the CPU to run at 100% ... a lot.

I really regret buying RTC because of the bloated software that it comes with ... but here we are for now.

Can anybody recommend a simple software that will work with my RCT UPS without all the bloated software of ViewPower?

Thanks

What do you want to do with the UPS that requires software? Windows 10 just sees my Eaton UPS as a battery (connected via USB), I have set it in Windows to hibernate my PC when battery reaches 96%, so pretty quickly.

Sadly part of what I regret about RCT UPS is that it does not get detected by windows 10.
Hence the reason you need some software to pick it up :)

I now know that some, (most UPSs?), work with Windows 10, sadly RCT is not one of them.

Something to remember next time you want to buy a new UPS.

Reload your OS?

I'm using Viewpower on 2 computers and a notebook with no issue or massive usage...
Connected via USB.

I had the exact same problem. You can use Powerwalker Viewpower, hardly uses any CPU resources. Don't have the link, but you can just Google it.

Unfortunately Viewpower uses Flash. It is now dead. This parrot is no more. What do I do now to stop the annoying bleeping ? I see another thread about how to open the UPS up (carefully) and destroy the buzzer, which right now is looking like the only option.

Do not do that - the buzzer is there for a reason and by destroying it you won't be alerted to battery faults and emergency alerts. Please have a look at my thread: Configuring NUT on Debian Wheezy | MyBroadband Forum

I have been running the above config with the beeper disabled via software, but only the beep when on battery life. A cheap Raspi Zero W, 8GB SD, short cable and some double-sided tape will turn your "dumb" UPS into an always-on "smart" UPS but it's not required.

Thanks; I have now found that the latest version of Viewpower uses HTML5. It is downloadable here : http://www.power-software-download.com/viewpower.html . The only strange thing is that when it opens in Firefox, which is my default browser, it gives a blank screen with only a notice telling me to install Flash; if I open it in Chrome it works. So the buzzer on mains power failure is now turned off and I won't get woken up when the power goes off at 4 am.

How did you manage to connect your RCT to windows via USB? I have an RCT-Axpert VM 2k, when I plug in the USB I get the windows USB sound, but ViewPower does not pick up the device? I have tried Ubuntu as well, and same story. I can see the USB-Serial Cypress device in Ubuntu when I run 'lsusb -v', but ViewPower isn't able to see if for some reason. Any help would be much appreciated! (The output of usbview.exe is attached, I found it by noting which device appeared and disappeared when I unplugged it)
