Hi There,

I want to buy this model of UPS, but need to make sure that the software allows one to silence the beeping sound when on battery back-up, does anybody have one that can confirm this, i really appreciate.

Or does anybody have a 1000VA one that they can recommend that has this function?

Many thanks

It does. However, if you drain the UPS completely, you will have to login again and update the settings.

Have you seen the delivery or collection times...ridiculous.

Earliest 20th Dec collect for me in CT, 23rd Dec delivery. What a joke.

That's because everyone is buying.
I was in Communica on Saturday, they sold 200 12V 7.2Ah batteries in one hour. I got the last of the stock.

I have one like this, but my software doesn't allow me to change the sound.

I have this one, I opened it up and removed the speaker. No sound anymore.

Edit: on a side note. The Stage 4 load shedding we had, earlier this year, ****ed up the battery. I guess there wasn't enough time to charge in between shedding. Going to try a 12ah battery, instead of the 7ah included.

all my UPS's i have owned i open up and place a big piece of Prestik over the beeper.
Now the sound is nice and faint, doesnt bother me
Reason is i still want to know when load shedding has kicked in and also the beeper also acts as a warning if there is something wrong with your battery or you are overloading.

will work but also be careful as now your charging circuit inside the UPS will now run longer to recharge the battery and that means more heat. Some UPS's will fry as a result, too much heat for too long.
Touch wood i have been safe so far on my APC UPS's

Just bought a 2000VA Mecer (2x9Ah batteries as opposed to RCT's 2x7Ah) , will be testing later once charged.... thankfully "Eksdom se ma" is LS us again at midnight.

Curious if it will run my 42" inch TV for any reasonable time or boil the kettle once every power cut lasting 2.5 hours.

Small price to ask for the price

Stand by for test results ...

Don't use it to boil water. Its going to drain your batteries. :o

I said once per 2.5hr power cut Lara, and my kettle boils in 1 min.

But yes it probably won't do much else after that until it's fully charged again:)

No kettle boils in "1 minute"...why don't you boil the water 5 minutes before load shedding and put it in a hot water flask.

Or get a R120 little gas camp stove with 1 or 2 gas canisters.

Boiling a kettle on batteries will very quickly run them down way past 50% DoD and your battery lifetime will be a few months.

How does one know when UPS is fully charged?

Only 1 green light on Mecer and when I first plugged it into wall socket after purchasing this arvie to charge it , it was already showing green

Mine does.. very quickly. 2 mins max for say 300ml water.
But I hear you nonetheless about using it even for heavy short usage.

Hi, the Mercer seems like a better deal, can you silence the beeping with the software?
