Solaring in Solitude

Nice. What’s your pv production like since the install, and what are you running on essential?
I'm not entirely sure what to post for the pv production. If you let me know which figures or graphs to look for on the sunsynk site then I can post it for you.

I've got everything on essential except the two geysers and the oven. In retrospect I may have added the one geyser.

The lowest my batteries have gone was to around 40% when we didn't have power for just under 24 hours and it was cloudy and rainy.

Do you mean it looks really nice or did I pay too much?

I have this feeling I probably bought at the worst time price wise, but who knows.
Nope, the prices are just going up on a daily basis so you got in at the right time.
Also there isnt enough stock of the balance of system components around to put together a full system at the moment.

Congrats. I added your thread to the directory.

Regarding deposits. I sourced all my stuff myself. Then paid for installation and COC. Some of the installers aren't able to carry a "system" with regards to cash flow. So deposits are fine if they are in check. 80% would also let me sit a bit uncomfortable. Imagine as an installer you have 4-5 systems ordered and lined up for the month without any deposits, gonna be tight. You just need one oke to fsck you over and you're up sh1tecreek.

Beautiful install. May you be blessed with infinite photons !

Sunsynk batteries look nice ... I like that the LED are visible unlike the hubble which are based underneath which is a bit of a schlep to get to when something goes wrong!

This is why I would be happy to pay with CC to get some 'insurance' in case of issues with the vendor. Unfortunately , most only want EFT and that makes it a hard choice for us, because both parties don't trust each other - and both parties are completely allowed to feel so initially.

In my case, that is why I went with PowerForum at the time because they were a known quantity. Thanks to the threads on the forum, we now know of a few more reputable vendors where at least we can feel 80% confident they not going to run away with the money.

Also had mine installed now with Smart Tech Solar, with the same specs, 8kw Sunsynk inverter, 2 x 5.32kw Sunsynk batteries and 8 x 540w JA Solar panels. So far happy with the install and they did a neat job, clearly the installer and Johann take pride in their work. So yeah, I am now proudly a solar elitist hehe and part of the club

Very nice!

Welcome to the elitist group. :D

I see both you guys have 8 panels, at what time of day on average would you say the batteries are charged ?
i've also been quoted on 8 x 545w but wasnt sure how big of a difference would be if i went with 10 ?

so if i go with 10, then my next upgrade would be adding on another battery rather than extra panels right away, assuming i have 2 * 5.12kwh batteries

Your 8 panels will take approximately 1 year to charge 2 x 512kWh batteries.
