Solaring in Solitude

Would you mind sharing your battery settings here? Would like to compare it with what my installer setup after the second one was installed.

I will go have a look this evening. I take it I can find it on the menu somewhere?

Correct yes. Under the gear icon on the main menu. Once you open the battery settings option, there should be three tabs. Would be great if you can share those three tabs.

I'm glad to confirm that the earth bonding was done inside the inverter.
Can you take a pic?

Apparantly they just join neutral to earth ofter the inverter. No relay/contactors...

This is how the Deye manual shows it.
I'm not sure if I want to do it this way though. I would prefer that each source of power has it's bond at it's source and not sure how a generator would fit in with this arrangement.

Rather use a normally open(NO) type relay or contactor that will bond earth neutral on load output only when your grid drops.
You can wire the signal to the contactor or relay from the ATS output on the inverter.
Just make sure you have the signal Islanding mode selection checked on the inverter settings.

 That's exactly what I am planning to do.

That's how they do it in Australia, but it's not legal in SA.

As we get further away from summer my system has been struggling in the afternoon. I had two trees that were getting in the way of the sunlight. Had the poor trees cut down today and now it's running smoothly again.

The irony of us all going 'green' is the amount of trees we need to take down to get there.

In the last few weeks, my neighbour finally bit the bullet and installed an inverter. They ended up taking down 4 palm trees (each at least 20 years old ) because the shadow they were creating blocked most of their solar panels and they had no other place to put the solar panels.

Ah it is what it is. #FsckyouEskom
