Do you have non essentials? All that load might not be on the essential side. Non essentials surplus demand is just taken from the grid.
Yes, the geyser and oven are on the non-essential side and I assume it was on simultaneously.
8KW SunSynk can do 50A (basically 11kW) when grid is available
Thanks, but I forgot to mention that it's a 5kW system.

The more I think about this the more risky it sounds legally. Those lead crimps are on the meter for a reason. What happens when you feed back in more than you use in a month?

I've been sending my meter readings to Pta for a couple of years via their website, and haven't seen one of their techs out here since about 2017 I think.

What I'll do is keep track of my meter reading, let it build up a bit with zero export, and then just feed back till I'm back where I started. If they come out to take a look, I can just tell them I use next to zero due to my solar. Once they're happy I might build up a bit more in the negative for those times I need it. Somebody called it a battery of some sorts earlier in this thread I think
 
Even if I was this way inclined, my meter is in the street. When Eksdom comes to tend to a fault at my neighbours meter, they're going to have a fit if mine is doing the helicopter the wrong way LMAO.
I'm on a plot halfway to Hartbeespoort, and my meter's about 150 meters from the street, inside the plot

Curiously, the easy alternative to a fancy R10k meter for grid feedback is a simple 1960 issue rotating disc.
Not quite the same thing from the providers point of view. A disc spinning backwards gives you a credit at the same rate. An intelligent meter will give the reading for feedback which is the afforded a much lower lower rate. In CoCT case it's R1.03/kWh that you get credit for.

Yes, it's not going through the inverter, however, the inverter can power them (or partially power them) from excess solar if there is excess and it is configured to do so. The settings to do this are a couple of pages back I think - I posted mine. The CT coil would need to be installed for this to work (as it should be). Easy to confirm.
Just to add, they are not only powered from excess solar but also the battery, dependent on the SOC setting in system workmode.

Yes, good point. You may or may not want that depending on the weather and other factors (battery size).
True but you either supply the non essentials or you dont, you cant tell it to only use PV. (Unless you set the SOC to 100% but you then shoot your self for the essentials as well)
It doesn't bother me as I want my battery to temporarily supplement when PV isnt enough.
 
I'm where you are to a point. Because we have regular extended outages, I don't like my battery being below 80 after I stop producing, so that's what I set the limit to at around 3-4pm when my geyser timer kicks in. I'll change that timeframe to 1-2 in winter. I only have the geyser on non-essentials at this stage until I get another 12 panels. The electric oven is on essentials, so that's not a big deal and we stick to the gas oven and hob outside of production hours.
I am the same, I have a 5KWH battery. I was just highlighting for people that if your battery was at say 100% the non essentials could drain it down to 80%.
I have my pool pump + 2KW Geyser + oven on non essentials, I only have a 5KW. I run the pool pump from 9-11, Geyser from 11-5 (It is usually done heating by 2) and pool pump again from 2-4. This way even with Stage 6 the pool pump always runs a bit and I always have hot water. Worst case scenario is if the Geyser comes on later it coincides with the pool pump and my solar cant cover both with the house load so it uses the battery for a bit.
 
Anyone aware of the Deye 5kw inverter emitting a 15 000hz sound?

I don't really mind it in the garage, but all my appliances are making this noise now too. Especially the microwave and any PSU's. Sound's like my iMac's PSU is going to explode lol, its rattling and "hissing" shall one say.

Anyway to fix this?
 
What does a 15000hz sound sound like and how do you know its 15000hz?
Sounds to me like a faulty inverter if it's affecting your gadgets.
Measured using my iPhone, there's a peak in frequency around 15 0000hz.

Attached some pics for you. Thought I was going mad.

The first one is from the DB board. The second is from my TV. The microwave is probably the worst but I have it unplugged for now.

Funny enough now that I look into it more, the inverter does not seem to be emitting the frequency, it's coming from the DB board?

The topic has been covered quite extensively on powerforum. This thread has some mitigations, it's not cheap unless you have some ferrite cores and suitable copper wire lying about.
