Long weekend load-shedding plan revealed

Suspect the maintenance schedule has been suspended and everything is now being run flat out to make the new MOE and Eskom board look peachy, proactive and productive.

Only going to make the situation worse in the longer term.

/edit - call me cynical
But what informs these suspicions?

The heat is on, so the cadres have probably been told to back off from the trough and sabotage for a while. We need to make the new Minister look good you know.........
All these excuses just because we don't want to give credit where it's due? What has Cassim ever done to you?

Looking at their numbers, no.

Lol.......he has only been there 2 weeks AND he is not an Electrical Engineer remember, as was the narrative with De Ruyter

There are plenty of engineers at Eskom who run the show, not the CEO, the only difference here is that Cassim knows how to coordinate his forces to work towards a common goal, a mate who works for Eskom tells me that ever since Cassim took over Eskom is like a different place, the morale is high and the results are now showing, something that was missing under De Ruyter.

Yes, I also have mates at Eskom like everybody else.

And doesn't power increase in the evening when everyone is home.

Wouldn't it be higher during the day because everyone will be home?
A whole day of industry shutting down far outweighs what people use at home. Tuesday is easy lifting for Eskom.

As I said earlier

Don't buy it.......as @Vorastra said, how does it suddenly sort itself out in 2 weeks??
Yes morale IS probably higher because they got De Ruyter out of the way. No more spanners in the way. (Excuse the pun)
As you say, it's not the CEO it's the Senior Managers, Maintenance Engineers, Planning Engineers, Technicians etc etc that run the show below him.
Didn't they all follow best practice/ maintenance schedules irrespective who was there as CEO?

What exactly has sorted itself out?
Remember how De Ruyter used to suspend power station managers every week? That was what was killing the moral according to my mate.

He at least had the guts to get rid of criminals and saboteurs. Now it will be a feast for all again.
Suspend does not mean getting rid of someone. Sometimes it's just used to frustrate people you don't like hoping they go away, sometimes it doesn't work.

All the crims back to feast, as I said.

People forget that long weekends esp with strikes, factories tend to shut down equipment. (So going offline for 4 days)

We did the same, normally we keep systems running as we have people working on Saturdays but cause of the "4 day weekend" we shut all systems down. Wednesday will also be a slow start for all of them to go back online before full production can start agian.

Edit: Same for all the servers.
