Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

@Afrigirl happy to report no packet loss since 9:40 PM on the 23rd of March. I am currently monitoring 8.8.8.8, do you have an afrihost IP I can monitor instead for stability?

Hi there
I havent had connectivity since the early hours of the morning. Im in ferndale.

The vuma technicians said theres an outtage in Johannesburg affecting afrihost clients only and the issue is unrelated to the maintenance theyre doing.

There's no notice on your side. Are you aware of an issue?

Hi.

We are checking.

Good morning,

We’re currently experiencing an outage affecting DHCP services. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Our status page has been updated, and our team is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and will share further updates soon.

Awesome, thank you.

Your t1 technicians aren't aware of an issue as they just told me theres no outtage so give them a heads up haha.

Ill wait it out 👌

@Afrigirl

Can you confirm if the issue at the Octotel CapeGate Node in Brackenfell has been resolved. I live in Kraaifontein and feed off the same node and my connectivity is still down.

According to the Octotel status it has been resolved.

Hi.

Yes, the outage with Octotel has been resolved.
You are currently off due to the DHCP outage.

Why is it that some web traffic is working and others not? Apple TV+, App Store and Netflix are unaffected while the rest has gone bonkers?

Some of these services use IPv6. The lease times for IPv4 and IPv6 differ. Your IPv4 lease may have expired and failed to renew because the DHCP server is down, while IPv6 remained active.

Is there an ETR?

I find there are more and more issues with DHCP fibre and Afrihost/Afrihost's Activation than not...

Why is Activation required?
