Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Could anyone in the Durban area check your latency to Europe or east coast Africa?

Hi.
We don’t have an ETA at this time, but our infrastructure work is progressing and is expected to be completed in the first quarter.
Hi @Afrigirl and @AfriGuy It's been a few years already. I am just following up on this comment here that the infrastructure work to allow static PD for residential Fiber connections on Openserve was going to be finished end of first quarter, which was end March. Is this now available? Can I request a fixed IPV6 prefix?
Thanks

The BNG's were updated on Wednesday morning 3am.

Due to a bug we had to disabled ipv6 pd. It's enabled again so you should be working again.

Hi @AfriNatic Just wated to follow up on this. Has the BNG migration been completed? About a year ago it failed and the vendor was going to provide a patch.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, the patch has been rolled out. However, the migration is currently paused while the team focuses on other FNOs that require urgent migration.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a static IPv6 prefix at this time.

Hi folks. Sorry for hijacking this thread (as a now Openserve/Telkom ISP user), but are there any 'go-to' IP addresses you could recommend if I want to monitor and try to identify possible packet loss issues? (For JHB, CPT, EU, Asia. I'm Pretoria based)

@Afrigirl

Internet down in Pretoria East. Metrofibre. Down for 10+ minutes already.

I've been experiencing at least one daily disconnect the last week or so. Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Pretoria East OpenServe is down since yesterday 10 am.

Ref 81ATK260526. There had been no feedback yet.

Is it just me or what? Client Zone via App on phone or Web access on PC, cant see any of my Connectivity info.

Best MyBB ISP Afrihost,

1) Looking to upgrade my Afrihost/Axxess FTTH fibre by VUMA to symmetrical 1000Mbps/1000Mbps but is unavailable?

2) The odd-one-out package is the 1000/250Mbps asymmetrical line with 1:4 DL/UL ratio. All the others have at least 1:2 ratios.

This is reminiscence of the 2000's ADSL heydays and first fibre lines with ratios of 1:20. Theres plenty of research that shows a minimum of 1:2 best for TCP/IP performance. Otherwise, the limited slow upload speed "chokes" the much faster download bandwidth.
